The Brits move to clamp down on shotguns

As someone who used to live in the UK, I can say it was always next-to-impossible to get a shotgun licence, unless you were a landowner in the countryside. Justifying the need for a shotgun was always difficult, together with onerous storage requirements that were strictly enforced, especially if you lived in town. I lived in Cambridge, but was renting a house — I could not qualify for a shotgun ticket (and yes, I’m also a British citizen). Shooting is a sport for the wealthy in the UK, even clay sports. We can complain about our lot as firearm enthusiasts here, but we have it so much better than many places.

In that article they touch on a bunch of different things and one is the state of the NHS.

I was back for a brief trip in January to see a sick family member and had to visit the local hospital. It was like a Mardi Gras in there (minus the fanfare and cheer), people all over the over the place to the point that they were lined up in the corridors etc. Seemed to be way overcrowded.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and the same person had to go back to hospital via Ambulance and when we called the Doctor told us that they couldn't find them (which was very alarming as they have early stage dementia). In the end they found them, still in the Ambulance several hours later. It all felt very disorganized and stretched.

I recently heard that the population there is up to 70 million. It sure seems like the services haven't been keeping up with this increase in population hence the shortfall I witnessed. Feels a bit like Canada only worse.

They got a new Labour / Liberal / Left government last year and while all these issues cannot be pinned exclusively on them I do find it interesting that they are now on a drive to further limit gun rights despite there being no real evidence that the juice is worth the squeeze.

It seems that leftist governments the world over use the same playbook.

Yawn......This crap is old news.

Maybe not this particular latest salvo but when you vote in left of centre governments anywhere, this is what happens. Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia, New Zealand......the list goes on and on.

Nothing new here.

It's like saying the prisoner in the penitentiary has his freedom curtailed. We all know that already.

My wife and I have regularly visited London on average twice a year, we’ve now stopped going as it’s become an Islamist cesspool. The city is lost as Britain is quickly becoming lost. We are not far behind with the liberal immigration and migration policies. Don’t kid yourself this needs to be first stopped and then completely reversed in all western countries by millions upon millions of deportations, even those who have citizenship.

Didn't realize that gun ownership is so difficult in UK. In comparison, we have it good in Canada but many of us don't realize it. We have to fight hard to keep what we have.

Comedian John Cleese got in hot water in UK for saying his England was gone. Said easier to get a " a good curry than a good cup of tea." He wasn't lying.

You can't deport people who hold Canadian citizenship. Even if they commit crimes, mores the pity.
You can still shut the tap off now though. Western nations are waking up finally to the danger of unrestricted immigration but not fast enough imo.

Firearms, Fishing, Hunting, they're all sports for the wealthy over there...

As if tea is an originally British thing, and not something they stole from other cultures/regions just like the curry? lol

Just that tea drinking has been a particularly
British custom for 2 or 3 hundred years.

You are correct and mores the pity!! I know the AFD is Germany is supporting deportations even of immigrants with citizenship if they commit a serious crime. As an immigrant myself, came at five and been here 60 years including 47 years serving this country I’d fully support that approach!
