An old Mini Mauser in .222 Rem Mag

Is it a BRNO fox action?

Thanks everyone, happy you all liked the old girl.

m1108 is spot on. It was built on a Interarms MarkX / M85 action that was extensively reworked. The Mark X mini mauser had side safety but the side safety was removed and converted to a tang safety.
Very nice! You should have mentioned Ferlach, that way, nobody would be surprised by build quality.

I do have a box of Remington. 222 Mag ammo. Will never use, as I am headstamp centric.let me know if you interested.

Thanks so much Patrick, I have sent a private message.

That is a spectacular rifle, in a caliber I'm trying not to be interested in. lol Bravo! Thanks for taking the time to share the pics. Even those are great.

In general, having a look at the chequering on the sights etc., it's clearly done by hand, not perfect etc. That's not a knock, just an observation. I sure couldn't do that well by hand. The fishscale and fleur filligree stock work is fantastic.

Is this where the differences show up in a European rifle worth 5 or 10X the price? I've noticed a sort of curve looking at those Euro coach guns Frontier has, the unnamed ones look like maybe apprentice grade pieces, the named ones are a little better in the details.

Damn, I had no idea Zastava was making those for that long.
I think he might be off by a few decades. Numerous places list the m70 being introduced in 1970 and the mini85 in 1985. Don’t think that action existed in the 60’s.
scope fits 80’s-90’s as well.

I’m sure an inquiry with fanzoj would tell him.

My thinking was based on the timelines for .222 Rem Mag. I thought it was discontinued in the 60’s. I could be wrong as I did not look into it in detail.

Yeah here or in the states for sure. At one time I owned an early clip slotted 700 in 222mag with the tombstone safety.

If you look overseas Sako still sells factory ammo in 222mag and brass. Not sure if like France and their no military cartridges for civilians apply anywhere else over there.

I’m sure fanjoz would be receptive to your questions, it would be nice provenance (like a colt letter or one from the English trade. it’s a nice gun and someone spent a lot getting it built. You could also try Swarovski in the states with the scope serial number in helping nail down the build timeframe.

I did not know .222 Rem Mag is still a factory offering by Sako. Thanks for the suggestions, I will do that to get an idea about the dom.
