We are now the Canadian distributor for Meopta Sport Optics.

Meopta was first founded in 1933 and they are located in Prerov, Czech Republic. They are a glass manufacturer supplying lenses to various optic manufacturers including Aimpoint. Since they are manufacturing their own glass, you are getting excellent price/performance ratio compare to other optic brands. Meopta scopes are very popular in Germany where they understand great quality product for the price as the next price category would be Schmidt & Bender, Zeiss, Swarovski/Kahles, etc.

Meopta offers up to 30 years transferrable warranty on certain models (requires registration).

Jim Fish has an in depth review of this, 5-30x56, was not so impressive scope, non locking windage and capped , some slop on the elevation and parallax knobs,

Meopta, founded in 1933 as Optikotechna in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic), has a long history rooted in European optics manufacturing. It evolved over decades, focusing on high-quality optical products like riflescopes, binoculars, and military optics, with production primarily based in Prerov, Czech Republic, and a U.S. subsidiary established in 1960 (originally Tyrolit, later renamed Meopta U.S.A.). Its expertise lies in in-house design and manufacturing, often using premium materials like Schott glass.

Vortex Optics, on the other hand, is a much younger American company, started in 1986 by Dan and Margie Hamilton. It began as a small optics retailer (Eagle Optics) before launching its own branded line in the early 2000s. Vortex is known for outsourcing production to manufacturers in countries like Japan, the Philippines, and China, depending on the product line (e.g., high-end Razor scopes are made in Japan), rather than owning its own factories. Its business model emphasizes aggressive marketing, competitive pricing, and a standout lifetime warranty.

I recall Vortex products were once produced by Meopta, and one had to be careful when the transition to Asian production started.
