The SIG Sauer P320 Has Never Been Good

No doubt it had some teething problems in the beginning which were addressed with the recall, but good god, with the amount of testing that was done to pass the various armed forces trials, this issue of spontaneous firing P320s has been blown way out of proportion.

Anyone remember the early days of Glock. They actually had nicknames for all the early incidents. “Glock Leg” and “Racing Stripe” scars. People no longer think of it as being unsafe. On the contrary.

For the guy who was pimping the 92FS earlier… slide separations at the ejection port on the early military contract models sending working parts rearward. Issue was addressed and now everyone remembers it as a solid gun.

####ing cancel culture seems to run rampant in the firearms community as well apparently.
you sir,are absolutely right,,seems to be a lot of woosies on here these days, you know the type, went to school wearing a hockey helmet on the short bus,LOL

yeah its kind a trash design(own one). my observation over and above what's obvious/ everyone else regurgitates: The trigger does not have to be pulled for the sear to move away/off the striker. if due to wear, gunk, 'trigger job' broken/weak/dirty springs ect ect the sear can absolutely move away from the striker without manipulation of the trigger. its essentially a cocked and unlocked without grip safety 1911....

Odd that simping for a massive corporation that has done nothing but lie to you throughout this entire process is what some of you think that being an adult is. What is it you are defending at this point?

I've never been a fan. Never seen any pistol with such a terrible reputation, and as many reports of OOB detonations, catastrophic failure where the gun just explodes in your hand, accidental discharges, and anecdotal reports of general unreliability. Who cares about the modularity. Putting sprinkles on sh1t, doesn't make it not sh1t.

I love the p226 though. If it's striker fired, it better be a glock.

are you that ignorant of what is going on or just trying to have some fun?
out of the 4 different 320's i have,NONE have ever given me any issues,1000's of rounds later, from my basic model, and M17, x-carry Legion,NONE have ever has a accidental disscharge,i dont make a habit of dropping my sh1t,or shoving my finger on the trigger when drawing from a holster,LOL.. never blew up with any of the hotter reloads i put through them either, must be lucky ,,,

I originally purchased my P320 pre recall in 2017. I sent mine in to MD Carlton for the update.
Since then I have been shooting it. I’ve used it in a couple idpa matches, it’s has been flawless. It fits me perfectly and I have not had a single issue with it 1000’s of rounds later.
The newest news is very disappointing especially when someone like Ben Stoeger is willing to speak against the platform and Sig.
it clearly has some sort of issue that will eventually have to be resolved.
Until I can definitively say it’s 100% safe I’ll no longer be using mine. I feel foolish for trusting Sig and investing my money in a controversial platform that I will never get a penny back from. It’s especially frustrating as Canadians since we can’t sell it or purchase something different to use.

Ive used both 226 and 320 for personal and for work use.
The 320 imo is better.

2 cents.

What is 100% safe? Condition 0/1 has risk. Wear and improper servicing has risk. Incorrect usage has risk.
Risk is not exclusive to P320. But P320 is popular, so incident frequency may appear significant, and the incentive for clickbait similarly.
From a frozen Canadian ownership perspective having a P320 (as a platform) will create jealousy from those who do not.
You are the safety, enjoy your P320.

I get it, the world is just too dangerous a place for you if Sigs are actually doing this, because what else might be failing too? So you go with "it can't fail", or "you are making it fail", somehow its your fault, machines just work etc etc. Its really pretty sad actually. Have you all heard about the 73 Ford Pinto yet?

"It's not the odds, it's the stakes!" -John Farnam

I wouldn't say that a P320 shouldn't be used at all, but I would say that - in light of the most current information, including the information contained within the current version of the owner's manual - a person probably shouldn't carry one loaded unless the person doesn't have another option available to him. And I'd also say that, if one is going to handle or shoot or carry a P320, one should do so with great care, because the stakes are very, very high.
