The 30-30 club, are you in?

I loaded up some 190gr barnes originals for my Henry last weekend. Chronographed at 2085ft/second. Didn't kick nearly as hard as I was expecting and shot well to 50m with iron sights. They're going to be my bear defence loads and maybe ill try for a moose someday. Will see if I can get a bit more speed out of them too. Still .8gr from max. Love the good ol 30-30 Cheers

First rifle I fired was Dad's 30-30... Falsely remembered it as a 7mm wby mag... Entered and exited the club with a Schmidt Rubin 30-30, was fun. Sold it. Used friends and my Dad's for eons until a few years back when I got my first "rifle length" 94 with a Lyman receiver mounted peep. It is nothing but smiles shooting them in any configuration.

I know.
I have a pre waffle in 35rem and get chit every time I mention of getting it screwed.
My aging eyes don’t fair well with irons.

Mine's post waffle (.35 Rem) so came with the holes already. I guess if I didn't have the ones I do, I'd probably look for ones with the holes for scope mounting. But in the end it's your iron, and a guy gets attached to the rifle he knows and has used. Doesn't matter much if you're not flipping it.

Found out as a kid, that I could do a lot better with a scope.
