Sellier & bellot canadian match ? any thoughts on this?

Although it shot better than I had expected out of several of my rimfires ( 10 shots .6 to .7 @ 50yd ) for bargain basement ammo it was so dirty cleaning my guns was like cleaning my BBQ ! I no longer use it. My cheap go to ( dry firing is just too boring ! ) is Tac22. Accuracy varies case to case but as with silhouttes, PRS does not require bench rest accuracy. At least inside of 150 yards.

It won't win you a trophy but its a cheap way to put a smile on the grandkids face for an afternoon.

They're just happy to hit the 4" spinner.

The guns always get a quick cleaning after a backyard marathon blast fest, so being dirty isn't a big deal.

Its amazing how much ammo a kid can put through a Cricket in an afternoon.
Don't underestimate single shots. I once went thru a brick of federal with a 22LR single shot contender.

My experience with, my CZ loves it. Eley does shoot better, but marginally and at 3 times the cost.
It was OK in my old Savage.
My Bergara's do not like it at all.

Is it dirtier than some others? Sure it is. Can I get through a few days in the field or a match or two before I need to clean? Sure can.

In reality, both of my Bergara's prefer different ammo. Grab a box or two and see for yourself. Somewhat it, some love it. It really comes down to whether the barrel likes it.

In my Grey Birch 1022, S&B Canadian Match grouped on average 1.355" at 50y (6 - 5-shot groups). CCI Standard Velocity groups 0.621" at 50y for the same 6 - 5 shot groups (less than half the group size). It groups worse than any ammo I've tried so far. I would consider it plinking ammo. IMHO, it does not deserve the "Match" moniker. You may get lucky and some rifle(s) may shoot it better though.

S&B Canadian Match

Runs okay in both my Ruger Precision and 10/22 at 50 yards, it groups a bit better in my son's Savage 64, strangely, a bit dirty but my go to is CCI SV.

I was going to try some and then a local shop put TAC-22 on sale for $65.99/brick, and no tax this past Saturday and Sunday for the holiday weekend. I bought another three bricks to add to my inventory. (still on sale for $6599/brick).

I have a new CZ457 with an IBI barrel/match chamber. So far, the S&B Canadian Match is the only ammo that will reliably extract - other other ammo will fail to extract to some degree or another. Accuracy-wise, the S&B seems to be okay.

S&B Canadian Match is just rebranded S&B Club (at least, that is what I found out after a bunch of Google) that is available only in Canada. It runs okay in my CZ-457 (IBI match barrel), but it's not in the same league as SK (the other stuff I'm currently shooting).

Come to think of it, how did a Czech ammo manufacturer come to make a special 22lr product solely for Canada?
A printing press to make boxes marked "Canadian"; lol. Trying to capitalize on patriotism.

Same as CZUSA Roll Stamping CZ Varmint Barrels "Match"; not a lie, in that CIP chambers fall within the tolerance for SAMMI .22 match chambers, then charge $150 more to cover the cost of roll-stamping. LOL

someon said the S&B canadian match is good? anyone try them?

I bought a brick of Sellier & Bellot Canadian Match but they were not as consistent as Lapua Center-X and then the 5 bricks of Norma TAC-22 I am using since buying my first brick of TAC-22 mid-July.

The Sellier & Bellot apparently has a velocity of 1152 f/s instead of the advertized 1068 f/s.

Last week using TAC-22...100 yards - 10 shots - with wind.
2025-08-27 - 100 Yards - 10 shots.jpg
