Why would anyone need a second magazine??? If you lose the first one you have a hand fed single shot rifle.... Never mind.

I always bring a spare magazine. Are there any cons to having extra?

Look at all the old Discontinued guns selling for scrap without a magazine.

The mags are selling for the price of the gun with a mag.

So, one day, your spare mag can be worth the gun it fits.

I’ve seen a lot of really nice rifles (mostly European)for sale cheap because they were missing the mag. It’s sad; maybe not missing bolt sad but the end result is nuch the same.

I have only one rifle that has a detachable mag a browning bar and I have two… that said I don’t carry that rifle much anymore. Anyway short answer is yes having a second mag is a good idea! Paint it bright orange too so if you drop it in the bush you will most likely find it lol!

I always have a second mag with my rifles. Not for hunting but incase it's not available anymore and avoids all this BS having to look for a used one.

Also wanted to add on the tube magazine as it's very limited to only so many fire arms and a pain in the butt when you have to load and unload when moving locations with a vehicle.

I think safety orange…. Like a fluorescent orange, or pink…. Especially if you have only one mag and it is from a rifle that is no more in production.
I mean drill a hole in it and attach it to the trigger hard with a string lol
