Ruger Deerfield 99\44 .44 Mag

Do all the 44 carbines regardless of model have an 18.5" barrel from factory?

Havent seen any longer or shorter versions in both the 44 Carbine and 99/44, just in the PC9 and PC40 which are 16" therefore restricted unfortunately

One my very favorite go to rifles is my Ruger 44 carbine. Not exactly the model your speaking of but none the less I would not pay $1500.00 for one, or $1000 for one, at least not in this life time. Maybe I am just a cheap unrealistic SOB but that's my opinion.

I paid $1190. for my Deerfield , had to, I wanted one since forever, couldn't find one, my friend wouldn't go any lower on the price! Oh well, I bit the bullet, it's done, it's over with, I got one.

two-dogs; you have point, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet so to speak and pay the price for what you want and don't look back. I paid nothing for my first Ruger 44 carbine. And $500 for the second one which I thought was expensive at the time. Your Deerfield is the modern version and a different gun from the 44 carbine I have and the one pictured on this thread with the cracked stock. But both models are very nice guns.

I traced the one I have to 1970 production, so that is the modern version? I stripped the stock the other day, I will start working on it over the next while when I get back from traveling for business.

Picked one of these up a few weeks ago through a WTB listing. I paid in the same ballpark as that one, but in like new condition with 6 magazines and some factory rings. Gotta pay to play I guess....

When I listed my WTB for the 99/44 I did have someone reaching out to sell me 96/44. Price was comparable.

I think the tube mag. version came out first in 60's and was called Deerslayer. Ruger stopped production because of a high cost of production and a patent dispute with Ithaca. They re-started their production in 90's (?) with rotary mag. as Deerfield.

Anyway, I stopped looking for them when they passed $800 for an excellent condition one.

They called it the Deer slayer for a year or so then got into hot water with (I think it was ) Ithaca over that tradename. It then became just the 44 mag carbine if memory serves me correctly.
I have a like new tube fed in my gun locker, it is to be buried with me. Loaded of course..........

I suspect that you would be hard pressed to find one in good shape for under 1500 . I see them once in a blue moon at the LGS , and they always sell within a day or two for 1500 and up .

I sure wouldn't let mine go for that paltry sum. I took mine to a gun club once and had 2 "do you want to sell it" from members there. I wouldn't consider it for a couple of reasons, one, it is not for sale and 2 both who asked were ___ holes!

Man, this little carbine has been a ton of fun getting setup for deer season. Put a Leupold Mark 3HD 1.5-4 on it.

Running Hornady 240gr XTP over 25gr of H110. A respectable 1880fps giving me decent ~2” groups at 100 yards. Can easily hold over the 2.5mils for a 200 yard shot with the Leupold SPR firedot reticle.

I had previously built a .308 Sig Cross for this fall, but man, this Deerfield Carbine is a little gem. Really going to have a tough time figuring out which one to grab.

I have two of the deerfilds with rotary mag there a hot item these guys saying 1500 is to much are dreaming inwould not part with either of mine for under 2500 each go and message buddy i just mentioned i bet he will scoop it up fast for the 2500 mark he says rite in his add its a long shot of finding what he is looking for
