Lets see your winchester 1897s and model 12s!!!

View attachment 1018258This one has a real long family history of 5 generations and over 100 years. There is also an 1895 in 303 Brit that have been a set since the beginning. My great, great grandfather was an outfitter in central BC and those guns have see a lot of use. In his old house there still are 2 sets of deer feet hangers in the kitchen where the rifle and shotgun were kept to knock off whatever predator came around.
Great story!

Is that a riot gun, those are kinda rare if it is.

Mines not an original Model 12 riot gun...It was professionally modified for Wild Bunch Action Shooting...But it is a riot to shoot...HA.

The original factory version like you said must be rare...WOW !

This is a M97 that was part of my collection years ago. It's a 12 ga Black Diamond Pigeon gun. The left side of the receiver shows a live pigeon field and if you look closely there is a pigeon in flight. The gun was likely made in the early 1900's. It fit me fairly well and I shot several rounds of trap and the results were rewarding.

Here is a 16 ga M97 built about 1942. Most M97's were 12 ga but a small number (less than 10%) were made in 16 ga---to the best of my knowledge they were'nt made in 20 ga. The early 16 gauge guns had short chambers (2 9/16") but this16 ga had 2 3/4" chamber.
I find the engraving quite pleasing but it most likely is not factory engraving. There are no identifying engraver's marks so the craftsman is unknown.
