So I had my eye on buying a very accurate rimfire in 2026. My Ruger 10/22 is good but I'm at the point I'd like to upgrade.

I had thought a CZ457 would scratch that itch but with the gun "buyback" fiasco and the fact that Colt Canada (of which CZ is the parent company) took the contract to destroy the "buyback" guns I am not even considering a CZ anymore and instead will investigate buying an Anschutz even if it costs a bit more.

Anyone else still considering CZ as a company to deal with at this time or is it not even an issue as far as you're concerned?

No.

If you want to feed it SK ammo then before the fiasco I'd say go CZ mtr (accurate)

If you want to feed it cci sv (cheaper and available) go Tikka t1x best bang for the buck

CCI sv is very slightly over sized and I wouldn't shoot it in a CZ match chamber
...

some say norma tac-22 shoots well, Haven't tried it

What scope are you putting on it, what ever you decide?

benchrest, hunting, plinking........................................?
Thought about putting a higher end Vortex razor on it - Maybe a 4.5X22X50 LHT. The LHT is their light hunter series and should keep the weight down to a tolerable level yet still provide excellent resolution on tiny targets. Comments?

I guess I have a different perspective... I wouldn't put off enjoying any gun that you want to enjoy right now... You're literally allowing the government to dictate what you will or will not purchase and enjoy. That almost seems like one more way they're winning.

Lookin' at the umbrella... I don't think CZ USA had any input, control, or were even consulted. Colt is under CZ group, yes... If we are to go with a family tree analogy everybody is going off like it's the equivalent of a 3 year old asking mommy permission to play on the swing... This is more like a 42 year, old second cousin with a drug problem that you haven't seen in 14 years just committed armed robbery... Seems a little absurd to forfeit your enjoyment of a rifle you've been wanting because of the actions of someone else?

Also... Colt has always danced to their own tune, and have never respected the civilian market (in my opinion). They lap up government money left right and center, and I'm at a loss for how anyone is surprised at all.

If we were to place bets 5 years ago on who was going to take the contract, I think 9 out of 10 people in the industry would have put money on Colt Canada.
