Does Your Club Close For Winter?

So the “club” decides when the weather is not suitable?. I would think that should be up to the shooter to decide. Our club is open year around. Members can go shoot skeet (for example) anytime they like (but may need to use the snow blower first). Those that think it too cold are welcome to stay home. Participation is voluntary.

Makes no sense to leave everything hooked up for an occasional shooter. Our members have zero interest in shooting once the cold weather sets in so why spend $ on plowing, hydro etc. for maybe one shooter to come out on occasion? Makes no sense. We can pull our machines out while nothing is going on and have our servicing done during the closed time of year and get plans together for our scheduled shoots for the upcoming season.

I belong to two clubs. One shotgun only the other mixed shotgun rifle handgun. At the later the clay machines are only used at organized events but there is one of those spring arm throwers any member can use at any time.
 
My club doesn't close in daytime except for Christmas and New Year's Days, but try placing an embedded target stand in frozen ground, and I know darn well the other usable stand I do have would be banned on sight if the wrong person saw it, although completely safe.. It's a pro design but has metal in it.

Edit: I didn't notice this was in the shotgunnin' forum. I'm talking about a club that has all kinds of ranges but you would have to provide your own clay throwers. For which it would be open.

We shoot Trap and Skeet all year round. Silver City Trap Club near Trail BC. We do get some good snowfalls, but we have a 48” snowblower on our JD tractor and about an hour and a half’s work and we’re open. Wood stove in the clubhouse helps ward off the chill after a round on the colder days.
 
Cdtsa near Milo AB.
Best club around and open all year.
Sometimes I go out when it's -20, fire a few shots to "scratch that itch" and then go when my fingers are cold.
Nice drive and Mc Gregor resevoir is very close so can do some fishing.

We have some awesome snow removal equipment , big blade and a 60" snow blower on a big Volvo Skid Steer, but when it's below -20c and below for weeks on end , nobody is going to be standing out and shooting a full round of trap or skeet!

Milo eh, when we lived in Queenstown there was no club in Milo that I was aware of. We shot at the Arrowwood range. However, I did not shoot shotgun back then so maybe the cloud was tiger but I didn’t know about it because I only shot rifle.

Interesting.
I never knew there was a range in Arrowwood.
Hopefully there still is.
