My girlfriend bought one of these from marstar, its a nice little pistol for 150$. She was at work today and I had the day off so I decided to give it a good detail strip and figure out how this thing works and clean it up and oil it.

almost a big mistake right there... jeez, this thing is extremley frustrating sometimes.
If you field strip it, its not so bad at all, really. However I went beyond that and started with the slide.

I took out the recoil rod and spring and removed the firing pin and spring. Cleaned them up and tried to re-assemble. The firing pin is retained by a screw, no big deal here, however the recoil rod+spring was the BIGGEST PAIN IN THE ASS TO PUT BACK IN. I thought the tokarev was tough with its hammer spring, but this is pretty insane. I was fighting with it, trying to compress the spring and then feed in the recoil rod into the slide, just kept popping out! Couldn't brace the spring properly for feeding and it would curl up inside etc. At one point I got the rod and spring compressed right into the slide and just needed to push the takedown pin to retain the assembly, I push the pin and let go of the rod with my screwdriver and the rod hangs up UNDER the takedown leaf spring! I thought for sure it was ruined and I'd be ordering a new takedown spring from god knows where... I managed to force it forward and the leaf spring returned to normal, wasn't bent..

Point being, if anyone detail strips this pistol, beware, its a tough fight.
I now have a nice little trick to get it back in there. After it was all said and done it was actually quite a bit of fun figuring it out.

Haven't even started with the frame, but I feel that its not that hard as there are only lightly compressed springs for the slide stop and the firing pin safety.

Neat little gun though, hopefully we'll be able to take it out and run a few rounds through it.

Does anyone know if this is based 100% off of the original woodsman or is the firing pin safety something that has been added?

If anyone has any pointers for the lower frame disassembly please let me know before I run into a possible headache.

I just got mine as well. Well, maybe a month ago now...

I love it. Small, compact, simple, decent trigger, more accurate than I am (for now anyway...) :p

I have heard from others as well that it is a pain in the butt to take apart any farther then a simple field strip. On that, I haven't yet gone beyond field stripping it (yet). I did manage to knock out the recoil spring the first time and I ended up using a flathead screwdriver to set it back properly. Took me about 30 minutes! Glad to hear you had trouble too! :p Now I don't as big a dolt! :D

Anyway, have fun with it! Let us know how it shoots for you and what ammo it likes.

I took mine part as well; it really was major PITA to put the slide back together...

Note mine just says M93 (vs. M93 sportsman)...

EDIT I just noticed your thread says *COLT* woodsman...might want to change it to Norinco. :)

I feel your pain. The first time I stripped my Woodsman I cut my fingers on the holes in the frame under the grips.
It's been a couple of years since I tore it apart but if I remember correctly, you only need to knock out the top pin on the frame to get the back part of the grip out. I think the bottom part is notched instead of having a hole for the bottom pin.
Mind you mine is a Colt Woodsman so it might be different then the M-93.

Not hard to put together if you figure out the right technique. Have any of you had failure to fire? I seem to get at least one every mag.

Another note, the pistol will not feed more than 5 rounds from the mag. Ramp is fine its the magazine, if I put any more than 5 in the rounds bind up. Holding down the follower they sometimes don't even fall properly inside the mag and I have to give it a shake.

I have a feeling that theres cosmoline on the sides of the magazine that are holding back the cartridges, but its hard to clean.
Anyone else have this problem?

Technically speaking

Its not at all a Colt. Its a reverse engineered copy of a classic design made by the Chi-com army's manufacturing arm, Northern Industries Inc.
If the Chi-coms reverse engineered the Chrysler PT Cruiser and called it the NP Kruser, it is still not a PT Cruiser.
Its just a couple of bucks closer to their very own aircraft carrier.

I must have got a real good one. I have experienced a few mis-fires but those rounds wouldn't fire in anything else so I figure it was the ammo. It feeds anything you put in the mag. The accuracy, well, it shoots better than me! I have not taken it apart, cleaning consisted of wiping it with oil and brushing the accessable parts. Wish my $1200.00 Para worked that good out of the box!

I found the same problem with mine when I was shooting Longs, (as opposed to LongRifles) I know it is the wrong ammo so I accept the fact that they don't always feed right. I just wanted to see how quiet they would be. Not very as it turns out. :D

Mine has shot everything I've put through it so far including:
American Eagle
Stingers
Yellow Jackets
CCI Subsonic
Federal Copper washed 525 bulk

The only misfires I've had were ammo related.

I really like it. It's just too bad I can't take it over into Maine to do some handgun hunting with. :(

it's a copy of the woodsman, but the 1915 first model- and the quality is hit or miss- i've got one of the very first ones, and it feeds either mag flawlessly- i happened to be lucky enough to have a copy of the original colt instructions in one of my reference books, and when i saw the differences between the two, decided NOT to detail stip it- after all, it IS a 22, and unless something goes wrong, why mess with it- same deal goes for my remington nylon 66- both of which are nortiously hard to get back together once you've accomplished getting them apart-but they are somewhat ammo sensitive, preferring winny dynapoints- the federals it's a 1/10 misfire- what i do is save the misfires, then rotate them so the firing pin hits a different spot- this USUALLY makes it go bang

this chinese copies of the colt woodsman are fantastic great little guns and a lot of fun to shoot for all ages...

Its a fun little pistol but it dont like dynapoints , actually nor does my 10/22
and i got 2- 500 rd boxes , Was out shooting last weekend with a buddy . first time out for a while range got snowed in. Anyway took a whole bunch of toys 10 firearms in all including the nork woodsman copy . My buddy picked it up and shot a mag and said hey this is a neat little pistol . and accurate , he was consistently hitting a target 6 inch by 12 (a steel cylinder) at 50 meters .and no miss fires we took a bunch of American eagle hollowpoints. Anyway i let him play and i was shooting the other stuff . and said i should have a go with the woodsman . he then informed me he shot off all the bullets I figured with all the other stuff we took, 200 rds should have been enough for everyone to have a go , so he obviously enjoyed it . As soon as we got back he got on the phone to marstar and orderd one . the only issue is it is a small pistol so if you have large hands you might find it too small. So if your thinking about it , buy one right away because for the money you cant beat it .:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

I agree it's a neet 'little' gun, but I hate the tiny sights! And can't shoot well with them...I know there's not much that can be done but I rememeber seeing a pic of M93 with a red dot sight. Who was it that done that? how easy is it mount one?

Can hit the light with my middle finger no problem.

After 3000 rounds - I've had next to no stoppages with Federal Game shocks I think.

Trigger has some play left to right though - anyone else have this problem?

For a second there I thought you actually bought a Colt Woodsman for $150 . That would have been a good deal.
