I Need Some Input On Which .22 Pistol To Buy. I Am Looking Between The Sig Mesqeto Or The Ruger Mark 3. This Will Be My First Handgun And I Don't Want To Make The Wrong Choice. I Have Read That The Sig Can Be A Little Fussey With Ammo But Is Way Eaiser To Maintain And Clean Compared To The Ruger. Any Feedback Would Be Great. Thanks

Ruger....it'll outlast and outshoot the Mosquito. After you take the pistol apart and clean it a few times you'll find the takedown of it not as bad as some make it out to be.

Another vote for Ruger: it'll eat anything, rarely needs cleaning, and it's not that hard to do anyway. Of course, I have a Mark.1, but still....
Also, try to get adjustable rear sights.

I'll be the black sheep and put my .02 in for the Mosquito - you just need to find what ammo works best for you (Lapua Standard or most 36-grain Federal Champion).

Ruger MKII.....better pistol then the MKIII.
OK, I gotta ask... why is the Mk II better than the Mk III?

I would buy a Ruger as my first pistol. They have been making them since the 1950s IIRC and if you ever have a problem someone will know how to fix it. Ruger will shoot anything but not so for the Sig. Sig looks cool though!

And like Nine has already mentioned you might want to consider the 22/45 versions that have a grip angle of the 1911s (Colt 45). If you buy a 1911 in the future you won't have to get used to the different angle.

And its good to see someone new to handguns starting with a 22LR. Good choice and have fun!

Every gunman should have a Ruger Mark II or Mark III, at least one, I don't like how they look BUT I am going to buy another one to pair up with my 2245 Mark III.

Mr fudd,
Basically, the differences between mkII and mkIII are:

The position of the magazine release button,
All MkIII have a loaded chamber indicator (pretty ugly, and it does collect powder and dirt, so cleaning will be more difficult)
MkIII cannot be fired/dryfired without a mag in.

For reliability and accuracy it's all the same: great!

+1 for Ruger, pay the extra money to get a high end model like competition target. This gun is way better shooter than I am.

The chamber indicator can be removed and the mag disconnect can be disabled if one is so inclined. I don't mind them. I sold my MKII after I received my MKIII. Along with these two "features", the grip on the MKIII is considerably thiner than the MKII.

and the ejection port is slightly larger on the MKIII.

Oh yes, and there is an internal lock. Never use it and it never really comes to mind. They give you two "keys" and there is a small hole in the frame. <Below the safety, once the safety is engaged, it screws in and forces the safety to remain engaged.>
