Dudes, a bit excited-
So we know that Krico is coming my way as a target plinker an Kangaroo and or Fox gun, all rounder for less buck per bang. lets say the effecient shooter of my Safe.

last night I was in one of those moods.... everythings goin ok, jobs steady, etc... Need a New Gun.

I didnt want to go over 308 cal because price of projies is getting high- having just ticked the box for small game target plinker, it was only sensible to Buy another .308 Winchester!
i mean, The CGN thread about 308 just turns a man on.

So i seen a T3 battue - one of the original T3s, BNIB- i email last night, but not before Trying my Visa card out on a Howa Superlite for a sale price of $1099... not bad i thought, maybe it was time for a howa..... but im not sold on it so i continue my email RE the Tikka an see if postage if included in asking price....

---luckily my visa didnt go thru online for the Howa---

i get a reply this morning RE the Battue can be posted for Asking price.

So i bought a Tikka T3 Battue .308winchster BNIB for $1050 aud. (kind of like their 2008 asking prices) wow!

im stoked, i am hoping the Girl likes this thing with 20 inch barrel and smooth action, plus open sights turns her on...

ironically, im hoiping the weight is down a bit off the Franchi..

but i have been shooting excellent groups with the Franchi, it sure is a shooter--

I intentionally kept away from tikka's for years. I am a Kimber guy so everything else was heavy crap. Tikka guys were like vegans, you always knew who they were because they were always talking about tikka's..... then one day a lonely tikka t3x 270 win fell in my lap. Kind of a homely little bugger. I made the mistake of shooting it..... Wow, I'll never be a vegan, but yeah I'm a tikka guy now too.....

Good for you, my hunting partner is shooting/hunting with a battue in 30-06, he likes it a lot.
If I ever buy a tikka it will have to be a battue.

I was always a Winchester type of guy until I bought my Tikka T3Lite Veil Alpine in 6.5cm.
Man that rifles shoots cloverleafs if I do my part, love that rifle.
I was almost dead set on a Stainless Hunter... Geez they look good and would no doubt shoot good.
But the end of the Day, the plastic Battue is up my alley for bush stalking an less care

One of mine also for quite a while

Have one in battue in 3006 installed in a pr precision chassis stock. Used it for elk season and liked it as had good weight ratio and balance

Congrats!

The Battue is not my thing, but I have run Tikkas in the past. All were insanely accurate, hassle free and enjoyable to carry in the field.

On the Howa front.. if Super Lights were $1099 here I’d have at least one in the stable, if not two.. sadly they are not ($1900 before taxes/shipping).

I hear ya on the pricing, a typical price is about $1200-1300- with some shops going well beyond that.

I didn't wanna spend much more than 1 K on said rifle, both were in the zone..an a savage storm was second hand about $750...but zlid not felt it at all to lay the cash out on.

As everyone has said, the Tikkas are just a Stapleford functionability ,and performance has never been a doubt... So I just had to go this route.

A few retailers had Howa Superlite rifles on sale for $1100. I picked one up, handy little rig.

Any photos of Scopes mounted with the Sights still attached?

I got a Burris which will be in rifleman mounts on a Picatinny Rail.....
Should work with sights on still yeah??

At worst case me good Ol Vari X 2-7x28mm will get the Job done

Tikka Battue T3X in 308 with trijicon 3-9x40mm with medium rings. The combined weight is 7.7 lbs vis 6.2 without scope and rings. I have also tried mounting an Athlon optics helos BTR GEN2 2-12x42 with the Burris rings which worked since the scope is 11.8 inches long, however I found it too heavy. Also I originally tried a picatinny rail, however I found it partially obscured the sights.
