I am looking for a good hunting scop under 700 dollars. I will be using it to push in brush but also tree stand hunting and hunt cuts/swamps up to about 300 to 400 yard on the high end. 95% of shots will be 150 yards in but would like the option to stretch it out if need be. I’d like to have a low end zoom bellow 3 and a high magnification over 8. I also would like to have an illuminated reticule and a scope that’s descent in low light and I hunt dawn to dusk. This scope is going to be mounted on a tikka t3x 7 rem mag for now and will eventually and up on a blr 308 or bar 308 most likely so I need a descent eye relief. My price point can move a little but would like to try to keep it under 700. I am also willing to wait for deals. I was looking at the strike eagle 1-8, Burris full field 2.5-10, Athlon Helos 2-12, or Arken ep8 1-8. I am open to any other options.

heres another model that you should consider. Its a little over budget but well worth it. I had a Leupold VX3HD 3.5-10x50 twilight hunter firedot and the Delta is by far better and cheaper in price.

That delta looks nice do you have any pictures of the actual reticule? Is it a Christmas tree or mil dot stile reticule? And is it just a lit dot or does the whole reticule illuminate.

I much prefer a smaller objective than a 50mm. It mounts high, is heavy and bulky. A 40 mm is nicer. The old Leupold 3.5-10x40mm was/is ever so popular for a reason.

3.5 is more magnification then I want for dense brush and quick target acquisition. I go have a 50mm object lends on my bench rest rifle and it is a little big for brush hunting but if I comes with good dawn to dusk performance I am more then willing to put a high comb check rest on my gun. But I would prefer the smaller 40 size if it has similar low light performance.

50 mm adds nothing to a hunting scope except bulky ness totally unccesary also the illuminatnated cross hair is a waist of money spend the money on quality not gadgets
leupold vx3 hd 2.8x8 x 36 is the perfect hunting scope all the power that is needed

Consider a good quality, used scope from the EE. Look for a Swarovski, Zeiss or Leupold that fits your parameters.
I would love to and have been looking for a while but even used Swarovski and Zeiss are well out of the price range and the leupolds are nice scopes but I have seen a lot of people that find scopes that are equal or close to leupolds for half the price. I have been looking heavily on the used market but most scopes I fine are the same as new if I can find a sale for 10 to 20% off

Right place, right time.

I agree the 50s are a little bulky and not really needed for hunting. But I have definitely had my cross hairs on a deer and not been able to see my reticule well 1 min in to shooting lite a quad scare it off before I could see my reticule. So I really like the illuminated reticule and would have baged one more deer in my life if I had one. Don’t really need the whole cross hairs but do like at least the center dot illuminated

Hawke optics makes a 1.7-10x44 SFP - 30mm Tube - Illum. LR2 FD (10x) however it is a little above your price range 1773938853528.png

I was going to suggest a trijicon Huron or ascent until you said illuminated. For what its worth i have lots of iluminated scopes but have never turned them on when hunting. The trijicons are very reliable and durable and definitely a scope you can trust. They can be found around $700.

Right .... Also the OP is talking about the scope going on a BLR. A 50mm objective scope would be about the worst choice possible as the BLRs have a very low comb and the scope would need high rings to fit.

This looks very interesting to me. Do you own one? I never knew anyone that ran a hawke optic before. How tactile are the turrets? How is the glass clarity compared to other scopes you have used and how is the illumination do you get lots of light ring at very low light?
