Been running a bait for a few years. Couple decent bears taken by other guys. I had only hunted bears twice in the past and passed on a small one. Was never really sure if I want to kill one or not. Well I decided to pull the trigger last night.

He only went about 15 yards and was dead in a few seconds but he ended up in water. Recovery wasn't too bad though as we could get a bike and trailer right to him.

I have 2 baits this year and both are getting hit. I'm surprised at the number of bears in southern Ontario.

Congrats!! I passed 4 bears this year, the first one I should have taken, the other 3 were most likely females and small.
Going again tomorrow i think. I really want a cinnamon one, a bore and on the bigger side or things!

Yeah, I knew this guy had some size to him from the pictures. He was actually quite a bit heavier than we expected.

Been lucky enough to grab 20-30 lbs of fat every year for the last few years. Buddy is a butcher. I have enough bear lard done up now to last a very long time. But will do more....lol. Not a big fan of the cracklins though....

after my first bear also...hitting the baits good......getting close to closing the deal
will have to wait till next weekend(my last two days of being able to get out there
in WMU 56)
bugs are brutal
congrats on your fine looking critter though
