No, his ignorant leech 'buddies' are the problem. OP either needs a new group or start to hunt solo...here is your problem.
100% trueI usually just stay away from people like that when I come across them. Just not worth my time.
being prepared isn't a problemhere is your problem.
Many sides to a story... based simply on what the OP states, items look reasonable. Nothing in what he said suggests 'hoarding outbursts' to me, but I'm not in his group. On it's face, OP looks like someone who likes to go prepared, his 'friends' don't, and wilfully let him incur all the costs for shared items. There might be another side of the medal, and here is what it could be:
The hunting buddies have a different view of things.
They claim that this hunting partner plans everything over the top, not just the necessary amount, but double and triple of every item.
They say that before every hunting trip, he goes on extensive shopping sprees and comes back with ridiculous amounts, huge piles of items which are not required and which will last for several hunting season.
To make things worse, he asks us to pay for his extravagant hoarding outbursts.
What do you think, does he have a problem?
Lately this is what I do. No more headaches. I'm a very social guy though so I enjoy other people but sometimes they take advantage unfortunatelly.Hunt alone
We all bring food and share, so that's not an issue. We usually take my car, and I don't mind driving.OP, you're only telling your side, what if anything, do your hunting partners contribute to the hunt?
Do th. ey provide the vehicles, food, etc. ????????????
Honestly, the amount of money I spend is not huge but it is the idea that some people cheap out on 8-10 bucks but have no problem spending 2k on a gun they shoot 3 bullets a year because ammo is so expensive. Many sides to a story... based simply on what the OP states, items look reasonable. I moved provinces a few years ago and lost my 2 trusted partners. I'm in QC and don't know too many guys, plus my French isn't great either. It takes time to find a new trusted group but I don't give up hope. Meanwhile I hunt alone or with some occasional weekend warrior. It depends on the relationship, the things you mentioned are items you would bring yourself.
Concerns over a few dollars one way or another is not an issue for a group that hunts together for years.
Take care and enjoy the time together.
I don't know if I'm just unlucky, but with two exceptions, my hunting partners have been extremely cheap.
I like to plan ahead and make sure I have all the supplies I think we'll need. When I ask the guys I hunt with if they want to split the cost of these supplies, they say no because they don't need them.
Then hunting day comes, and guess what? They're suddenly asking if they can borrow latex gloves, soap, paper towels, and so on.
I know these things aren't expensive, but what I don't understand is why people are unwilling to contribute to the cost but have no problem using everything for free.
Does anyone else experience this, or am I just unlucky with my hunting partners?
And of course they don’t have a tarp because I always bring and extra one.
