Who in ON is wating for a transfer? how long?

I've been waiting about four weeks for a Smith and Wesson M28, Ontario to Ontario, about two weeks for a Springfield Armory P9C, BC to Ontario, and I just started the transfer for an STI Executive, Ontario to Ontario.

It's going to be a while.

Well, as you know I am also awaiting final transfer approval for a 1911 bought by a CGN'er in Ontario. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to come thru before I can ship it to him. Almost a week now & counting.... :(

You'll be replacing the springs in the your new one before buddy get's his transfer approved. Sad place, that Ontario - the idiots are running the asylum. Which makes this a good time to point out to all of you gun owners in Ontario - we have jobs in BC and Alberta, and you don't need a passport (but don't tell your liberal neighbours)

FWIW, there was a gun auction at Switzers in Bancroft, ON April 12th. By and large, the pistol transfers were approved same day, and buyers took them home with them.

This is usually the case at the Paris gun auctions as well, all restricted transfers done that day and you take it home with you. Sure makes me wonder why my last restricted in January took four weeks.

It took for the CFO 5-weeks to transfer one of my IPSC standard gun under the name of my 18-yr old son, which by the way is living with me and my wife in the same address/house.

Waiting for transfer

I have been waiting for 4 weeks on a restricted ( individual to individual ) transfer. What a pain....... I have the ammo, new grips and extra mags ready. I just want my pistol I've already paid for. Why should dealers get faster transfer's, my finances are as important. Alot of people have to pay first before a gun is shipped.

So say's the pissed off Scotsman !

Cummon guys, quit #####ing. Paper trail, notes, call logs. Then copy everything to your local MP and Stockwell Day. The only way the CFO is going to change is if we put pressure on them and expect better. There's no reason at all for such long transfer times.

I was told theres, 800 transfers or so in a back log. She said it takes about 5 minutes (katharine) but since she was already doing 2-3 other things (at 8:45 in the morning...) that she could not put it through for me and Id have to wait.

800 transfers x oh say 5 minutes, thats 4000 minutes of work, or 66 hours of work. Say we have 5 firearms officers to do the transfers, thats 13 hours of work to clear the back log. So two days, because Idunno how long they take their breaks for....

WTF.

I still don't understand why it takes so long if we already own a restricted and still live in the same house.

Does this Tony Cooper CFO character take phone calls?

just got my gun in today, a glock 27 from questar. Was exactly 4 weeks from the time I called to complete the transfer over the phone. Hoping that it starts to speed up soon though

good luck guys!

Back in the days before all this bullcrap I could go to the gun store, Pick up my gun and take it up to police headquarters in Jarvis St. Register it and take it home the same day. I could then go back to the HQ. get a transport permit to take it to the range any time. All this crap makes me sick. Back then even T.Eatons sold handguns, I bought a couple of nice S&Ws there. Wish for the good old days.

The ON CFO aren't the only foot draggers. Started a restricted transfer on March 5. Seems the serial number was off by one digit. Took the CFC and the RCMP until March 31 to correct the error and pass the transfer on to Ontario.
By the looks of this thread the transfer should be complete by Labour Day.

Ontario 8 days -

I just got a call today.. my latest transfer has been approved...

8 days... maybe things are getting better

:D

^was it approved 'over the phone' when you called? or was it already done?

I've been waiting for exactly 2weeks now...The last two transfers started by the same dealer only took 2days....
