I have a new project that I have just started that uses, what else, take a guess, no not another........ wait for it.... :dancingbanana:a 10/22 build:dancingbanana:.

Anyways,

I was going through my parts bin and I found an old AR15 pistol grip, an old (brand new) stock from my R22 (MP5 style) and an 8.5" barrel I ordered from Fabsports last month. Add to that a crap load of aluminum odds and ends and a lathe and mill that are just itching to be used. The one item I need, and I'm asking for assistance here, is in locating an MP5 foregrip. New, used, stolen (just kidding) in whatever condition and cheap (or free).:p This is what I've got in mind. Its my own creation even if it does ressemble a well know firearm of prohibited origins that we shall not name. Oh and BTW its 26.1" long. It also looks wickedly evil with a 50 round drum mag.

So, there you have it. If anyone knows where i can find an MP5 foregrip, I would greatly appreciate it.

Your photoshopped mockup isn't accurate - the trigger group isn't to scale nor positioned where it would have to be to function.

I hate to rain on your parade but it is deadly accurate:p. I mean the image thats is and hopefully the gun when its been completed:D. Thats not a photoshop mock up my friend. Its a photograph of how far the build has gone as of last week. Everything in the line drawing is an exact duplicate of the build. I have the original Ruger 1022 shop drawings in AutoCAD and the design was laid out based on that information. I should imagine that I'm with .01"+/- which is fine for this kind of work.

This is how far I am today with minor changes I made for asthetic reasons. Shes almost ready for the paint room.

I will be using Duracoat, an epoxy based paint, to finish my little creation but it would cost way to much to paint your canoe with it. I suggest a call to some canoe manufacturers.

I have a serious question, and I ask because I don't know how the firearm/cfc laws look at something like this. To me, it looks like you have simply built a MP5, which is really cool and you have done a great job, but in the end, havent you created a prohibited weapon ?
For the same reason we can't purchase a GSG MP5 or the Feather At-22, is it legal to go ahead and make it on your own ?

* not trying to hijack but I think it is important to ask*

Yes, I confirmed this with the RCMP. Their response was that as long as the action/trigger group is not changed and that it still functions as it was intended to from the factory, then all you are doing is "dressing it up". It is still just a non-restricted Ruger 10/22. Its the same with all of these kits- Krinker Plinker=10/22, my 1917 water cooled machine gun=10/22, Mg42 kit=10/22, RB precision=10/22, Nordic Components=10/22 and the list goes on.

I'm also in the middle of making a Thompson M1A machine gun kit for the 10/22. Its the only way I would come close to being able to own a real Thompson.

The other limiting factor is overall length. You cannot go under 26" for a rimfire or it gets reclassified as "RESTRICTED".

Well that ROCKS !

I know in the paintball world you can take the Tippman A5 paintball gun and get many different kits to mock up just about anything.

Beautiful build, be nice if you could "tie" the whole rifle together from the muzzle threads to the butt stock vie the mocked up gas system.

Can't wait to see the finished product, and sneak peeks of the thompson or thompson kit?
