I know thats what he meant, I was referring to Colt seemingly (from what I've gathered) being only willing to do bussince with Military and Law Enforcement that Colt would never allow the company/factory to fall into the hands of people who'd sell to civilians.
As for licensing, the AR-15 is long past its patents ending, so if the plant and equipment were bought, the old employees kept (as machines are good, but the people who know how to run them right are better), then who cares what Colt's original agreements were ??

Damned US State Department. Now what will I spend my two coffee cans put aside for a 9mm and a .223 pistol on? Those were the last semi's on my "to get list".
Time for picking up the 44Magnum, bolts and more levers maybe?
Socom supply has them listed still.
Just hope they will still be available to us up here once there's enuff $$$ in those cans. Thanks, I shall go take a peek...
I guess I'll have to put more in the cans. Higher than a RRA. I wonder if those are Pistol lowers or a pistol made out of a regular lower.

The Chinese will be happy to sell us M4geries, and probably all the bits and pieces we love to spend money on, also.
If the US gov does not our money, well I'm sure some one else does.
I still would prefer to see a truly Canadian gun industry though.

The agreement is with the Canadian Government I believe, not the factory itself.
Still, nothing stopping someone else from tooling up and cranking out AR's up here. Too bad Dlask doesn't have a good rep, curious what "government contracts" they're filling?

What it is going on is that, probably, the technology transfer approved by the DOS is for CDN military only in the beginning. So everytime it sells to someone else, the DOS has to approve the end user because it contains US technology.
So most likely it wil end up in the same BS people will be facing in exporting directly from the US. If Colt Canada is willing, they can probably apply to the DOS to sell to the civies. However, it will probably be getting the same hassle like the regular dealers who try to import AR. They probably need to submit an application everytime they want to sell a dealer 50 rifles or so.
That sounds like a lot of work while they can chase down the OPP and the RCMP....and keeps refurbishing C7. On the other hand, money talks.......if you pay them enough, they might move their arses.

Took awhile for my dlask order to be sent (and some nagging), but with that being said....The quality is definitely there. Maybe they just need an employee dedicated to shipping/ customer service.
I would love some of those new chinese M4's to come in (the ones that are imperial threaded). I could actually justify making a 10.5" bbl rifle if I got the rest of the platform cheap.

First of all, it's really none of your business. However I will answer your question. I am smart too. I have seen enough of other people's Dlask product to know to steer clear. If that wasn't enough, I have heard of one story too many on their customer service. Two strikes and they are out as far as I am concerned. No need for me to buy something and take that third strike now is there?!
