hey ppl, i got my license a couple months ago and bought myself a remington 870 tactical with extended breach choke, extended magazine, and folding knoxx stock.

NOW i just purchased a Tikka T3 Camo Stainless with a Bushnell 4200! I've heard great things about both and have had a couple friends recommend this combo. I got to shoot the T3 before and loved it!

so it was bore sighted at Italian Sporting Goods (where i bought it from), and am going to zero it in soon. Does anyone have any tips? I've heard to shoot one at a time for 10 shots and clean each time, then do the same every 3 shots. I'm thinking of zeroing at 150 so i can easily shoot between 100-200 yards, is that a good decision as i will be hunting? my scope is 3-9x40, where would you recommend i leave the magnification? i was told between 4-6x.

any other tips are well appreciated, thanks all!

peace

What caliber?

Start at 50 yards then move to 100. If sight in 1" about 100 you should, in theory be good for 200 yards.

Put a target up at 25 yards and verify the zero.

Then move it back to 100 yards. Zero 2" high at 100 and go hunting. Hold dead on out to about 250 yards.

does anyone know if the poi change on the 4200 when you zoom from 3 to 9?

thanks for your reply's and sorry for double posting this!

2" high at 100 yards is just about dead on at 200 and then between 7 and 10 inhces low at 300 depending on bullet type and velocity. Make shure you shoot it alot before hunting season at as many different distances as possible and from different positions.

Re teh scope, where and what type of terrain will you be hunting, I generally leave my scopes at 6x.

thanks guys, not sure where my gf's dad is takin me yet this november, it may be williams lake if memory serves me right

Sight it in at 100 yards, but check it on a target at any longer distance that you intend to shoot game at.Do not shoot at a game animal farther than you have already shot targets at.

Nice choice on the shotgun- they're fun and I find that they are very reliable

What're you hunting for? What bullet weights? Generally 2" at 100m is a safe bet.

here's a question based on the premise of getting a new-to-you firearm.

when one receives their firearm, what are some things they should immediately do to ensure the operation and safety of it?

is there a checklist of items you should examine to ensure it's healthy and safe to use?

So what is your home club?
Does it have ranges at 100, 200 and/or 300?
You do not indicate where you live.
Italiam Sports have applications for various rifle ranges that cater to various disciplines.
