Picked-up a new Stag Arms R1..........
Can't say enough about Arms East, great organization.

Looks like they're shipping them with the new Stag compensator/mbreak. (pic below)
First time I've seen 'em up close, and it doesn't look like I'll get to the range for another couple of weeks. Can anyone give me the lowdown on these new comps? Do they function well, and how do they compare to any other brand? Any info appreciated.

They are less evil and don't kill as many babies as A2 flash hiders, so consider yourself lucky. They are loud, notably louder. They do tame the recoil a bit, but just make sure no one is inline with your muzzle to the left or right or they wont be to happy with you.

you guys just wait till I post pics of what walter sold me, his very own personal 12.5" gun with a YHM fold down front sight gas block and a samson free float rail.

man am I impressed with 12.5" of loving, :) ...... form with function and perhaps the perfect length to insure positive function and feeding.

review to follow after shooting at the range later this afternoon, with pictures :D

Armseast is the MAN !!!

Sweet. Post some pics when you can. I'm building a 12.5" as well.

I'm waiting for a Stag 2T. I'd rather have a flash hider than a muzzle break on it anyday though. Oh well.

Brings-up a question.......
I havn't had a chance to pull-off the compensator on it; it's pinned, but is it also threaded so that I could put an A2 flashider on it if I wanted to??
I know I'm going to have a problem at my club with this compensator on.....close quarters when the benches are in high use.

I have been running a 12.5 for awhile. It is pretty lethal against paper target out to 500 yards with a muzzle velocity of 2700fps in 69gr smk. I guess both HK and Swiss arms did their homework way before - both G36K and SG551 have about 12.5" of rifled barrel with a published effective range of 450m.
