I hate to stir the pot(ok maybe I don't) but unless you folks have hands smaller than this young lady, your belief that a standard sized pistol(read 9mm or 40 S&W service pistol) is too big or doesn't fit properly is purely in your head. This is McKenzie, she's 11 years old. I would hazard a guess that she weighs around 75-80 pounds. Her ability to operate her Glock 19 supercedes most I've seen at the range and a lot of LE as well.

Mindset folks, its all about the mindset...

kids can learn faster then adults , many times over. I think its there attention span that lacks. find something they like to do (like this young lady) and they excel

She is doing a great job, the problem is being 11yrs old and not quite strong enough yet, limp wristing is causing the jams.

Yep with the mix of light load she experience a jam every 2-3 rounds. A revolver would serve her better for the next 2 years.

Still she practice a lot the jam drill more than me or anybody here. :p

I only hope she still have the time to play kids game because don't forget, she still a kid. Sometimes parents expect to much from their children.
Well, she doesn't look so sad :D

Totally agree.

I've never bought a gun because it is either too small or too big. I really don't care how it "fits my hands". I make it fit my hands.

I bought a G21 here 4 months ago, guess what....WAY to big for me to reach all of the controls....so, I bought extended one's.

Problem solved.

Holy Crap... but what is her G19 having soo many stoppages?

I would venture a guess and say that the glock is moving too much in her hands in the same way it moves in the "limp wrist test" resulting in stoppages. She can certainly handle her weapon very well and all the unexpected stoppages from something like that will help to improve her muscle memory for stoppage drills in the future.

I think you guys are taking "fit my hand" a little too literally. I doubt there is a pistol out there that is so big it literally will not fit into someone's hand. The issue is being comfortable with it. There are plenty of guns that just don't "fit" my hand, and I have much bigger hands than an 11yr old girl.

If adding extended controls makes you comfortable with the gun, great. But there are too many options out there that fit me perfectly, so I really don't feel the need to mess around "forcing" myself to like a certain design that just doesn't feel right.

Being able to operate a gun doesn't mean it fits your hand; I can shoot any handgun just fine, even though I may not be able to reach a slide realease on some of them. But if I'm buying a gun for myself I want something that feels good in my hand. ;)

Her stoppages as Scully pointed out are due to her size and strength(or lack thereof) thus causing the odd failure due to limp wrist. The videos were taken during a Tactical Response Fighting Pistol course. The use of snap caps(or dummy rounds) is incorporated throughout the course. It is also important to note that Tactical Response does NOT allow RELOADS. She is firing full house factory loads.

Ah yes..........."Glocks (or insert other brand name) just don't fit me". Such a pile of crap.

My 9 year with my G17:

Next time I need to replace my favorite pair of pants, I'll be sure to give you & your 9yr old a call so you can tell me what will fit me best.

That's got to be the most irrelevant comment I've ever heard on CGN.

A walrus barks at midnight, the peanut butter is with the jam..... the cow jumped over the moon ;)

either way, steves kid shoots better then most 30 year olds.... steve had him wearing camo diapers when he was born, the kid was tacticool before taciticool was well... tacticool.

The difference is that pants come in many sizes. Pistols do not. Somehow, I doubt either one is by chance.

Hmmm... That's funny, because if I take all my pistols out of my safe, there is not a one that has identical size, or ergonomics.

Each pistol will feel different in the hands of each person. Just like one pair of pants may be comfortable for me, but someone else may not like the fit even if they wear the same size.

This is such a stupid argument, I can't believe you guys. So because a person's hand can reach around a glock, they should be comfortable with its controls? Since a 9yr old can hold it straight enough to put holes on paper with it, everyone else should love it?

Nice try, guys. :slap:

There is a lot more to a pistol "fitting" someone's hand than whether or not they can reach the trigger.
