I've seen the questar 37mm launcher for ar15. neat, but why? Looks cool, but I need some reason to spend the dough. Can you legally shoot anything out of it? Flares, chalk bombs, what and where do you purchase? Does the US forces use 37mm? I thought it was 40mm for them...

Unless a guy was looking to build a close to authentic looking service rifle. The only other reason for one is posing. Most folks I know who have or have had one produced their own shells for it. Mostly plastic dummy rounds. A buddy had one for a while that shot flare rounds. The ammo came with it so I have no idea where a guy would get more. Neat toy, for sure. Of any practical use, not really.

It appears that the old film canisters (especially for the 35mm cameras) are a perfect fit for the 37mm launcher, then you can fill them up with pretty much anything, chalk, concrete, etc...

only the Kodak 35mm with the gray lid fit. the rest are too loose. the big problem is finding them. if you go to photo shacks, they will give you what they have. however they give you everything. only a handfull of the right cannisters in every bag. plus with the ease of digital, almost nobody is using 35mm anymore.

If you need a reason, you just don't get it. 99% of the stuff sold, gun related, there is no reason.

The only reason not to get a 37mm,,,,, 40mm is available.

Do you need a reason for the 52" plasma wall hanging home theatre big screen?

Just like any new firearm related activity, try it, you'll probably like it.

should be able to find flares for it easily (they wont be cheap though) lots of ships use 37mm flare guns, thats most likely the reason they arent a registered anything

That ships use it is not why they aren't registered. They aren't registered because they aren't firearms. Same idea as a pellet gun, etc. Muzzle velocity, or lack there of, is the main factor.
