i have an AK grip that i want to mount on to my CZ858 but im missing the AK screw and the cz858 screw isnt long enuff , been to homedepot and their metric screw is only 2.5" long , i need 4.5" . any suggestion would be appreciated.

Canadian Tire has often supprised me with their metric selection.

Or a specialty bolt store could order it for you.

Or you could just order it ? Thats what I did :D

i saw one on a auction site but the guy wants $13 +ship , thats far more than the grip itself ... PM incoming.

i was at CT also , didnt see anything . the thing is the screw is 4.5" long .

specialy bolt store? i dont know of any in vancouver , i will check the internet .

norseman, i forgot to ask, when you installed the AK grip to your vz/cz did you keep the original pistol grip retaining plate ? i removed mine and i was wondering if screw alone held the AK grip solid?

I left the retaining plate on, Seems solid enough

BTW Im checking a specialty nut and bolt store in Sudbury, If they have them Ill get them for anyone interested.

i ordered a few 4 1/2" screws from numrich for $2.75 each thru their site .

You don't need that POS retaining plate that serves as a hiding spot for RUST.It comes off easily. The AK grip will be tight as long as you mate it perfectly with the trigger guard.

just got some AK screws from a member and i used it to screw a AK grip to my cz858 and i must say it fits perfectly , nice and tight .... the feel of the AK grip is also great , i like it , much better than the short grip of the CZ .... thanks fellas for your help .:dancingbanana:

When are guys say you removed the retaining plate, are you referring to the little sheet metal piece that the grip mates into? If so I want to remove mine too. Rubs my hand raw. Took off my pistol grip but it appears to be tack welded into place, how did you gentlemen removeit?

yes, that is the plate . i just pulled on it with a vise grip , it comes off easily around the stud , a little tricky around the trigger guard but a little wiggle and it snap off.

On mine the retaining plate is welded onto the receiver then the trigger guard tab to the rear is welded on top of it. I don't see how to take it off without destroying the triggerguard.

mine was held in by the stud so i used a chisel and pried it up and then pulled on it with a vise grip , the front part is under the trigger guard , here its a little tricky so you have to wiggle the plate up and down till it snaps.

i didnt save the plate but i could post a pic later .

dont damage the trigger guard , it also acts as a grip retainer.

Look cool?

Please, enlighten me: what does the AK grip have that the CZ one doesn't?
Going to all these extremes to exchange a chunk of funny composite for a chunk of whittled 2x4" just doesn't seem to figure.
If only the replacement part was ergonomically better, I'd say OK, but trying to bastardize a definitely SUPERIOR weapon to make it look like the AK? mmmh...
Oh well, to each his own, I guess.
PP.

yes, i will try to enlighten you ... im not much into ergonomic , for me i will change thing if it looks good or makes me feel good, the AK grip is different, its longer , feels better to hold but i can be just as satisfied with the CZ grip too, if i was a soldier i will happy to use either one into battle . since im not a soldier then i would like try different grips , have a selection , no different than a person changing the red with real wood , mine shaped differently.

i use to wonder why people bothered to replace parts on their SKS when it will still shot the same but obviously there is a demand for them or there wouldnt be so many after market parts available .

if someone wants to put a $200 surefire light on their restricted , fine, his money , looks cool but how often is he gonna be using it at the range?

you are kinda over reacting alittle arent you? , calling the removal of a small metal piece as trying to bastardizing , i think its far from it, far from a bubba , i can re-installed the original grip within minutes minus the plate and it will look as if nothing has changed , i wont miss it.
