A buddy of mine is looking at picking up an FN L1A1 and has a couple questions. While I carried one in my youth, I don't know a lot about their markings, so I thought I would put it out here.
It has a AD prefix serial number, the receiver is marked S R A but the selector stops at the R, the selector switch has a D on it and a big weld blob in the center, the bolt carrier has V shaped sand cuts, the handguard has three round holes on each side, and there appear to be Israeli star markings.
I believe the rifle to be Australian, but the S R A markings with the selector stoping at R makes me thing it had full auto capabilities at one time, which I didn't think the Australian's had. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks.
