Hi everyone,

I've just installed the B&T rail on my Blackspecial and I haven't a clue as to what type of adapter, mount, ring, scope, magnification, reticule (illuminated or not) and so forth to put on her. I do know that I don't want any battery operated scopes. The maximum range I'm looking at would be about 500 yards. I need suggestions (help) for this.

Thanks a lot.

Nightforce 2.5x10 on Nightforce (or others) low rings should work with the oem stock & cheekweld. If you place the scope higher up on a Larue SPR mount, you will likely want to raise your cheek weld with a clip on cheek piece.

just get some good rings, take it to a reputable gunshop and figure out what fits....

you will probably need extra high rings.... so burris tactical, luepold PRW, luepold QRW, Nightforce, Etc..... depending of course on the height of the rail, "high" rings may fit as well thatswhy I say take it to a reputable gunshop and have them fiddle with the rings till they find the perfect height, no use ordering extra high if it is going to put the scope 1" above the diopter rear.

you may also try one of the one piece mounts like a larue 1.50 SPR or the 1.93 SPR if they will fit.... I am sure someone can tell you that has a scope mounted or check out the photo section and see what people have done.

going to check out photos myself and will post a link to anything interesting.

here are some ones with scopes mounted...

actually check out the whole thread, I see the firstguy has an arms mount, and is using an armalite one as well but it is just about to low....

looks like a couple other guys are using riser rails and short rings as well , which is a good idea to keep the rings height low...

this post is interesting, wish he still had the pictures up, maybe send him a PM and he has them on his hard drive http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showpost.php?p=174282&postcount=43

here is one guy using a larue mount, with old style levers

another larue mount with new style levers, looks like a 1.93 SPR

If you can get ahold of them socom supply should have some American Defense Single Piece Mounts in stock as well eh.... http://www.socomsupply.ca/products.php?BRSR=20&category=gear one of those should work, see what height they are compared to a larue for reference.

The Zeiss Conquest with Rapid Z Varmint reticle works very well. I have the target model so I don't know what mount/rings you'll need.

Thanks beltfed,

Forgot to mention. Mine has the diopter on it. Would you suggest higher rings?

Per my first post, a sig cheek piece for the stock and a Larue SPR mount"

The Nightforce on it fits like a glove and imho, are borderline perfect for this rifle.
Anything beyond 10 power is a waste, as 9 times out of 10 you will be dialing down due to mirage as well as the fact that while the Swiss Arms rifles are accurate, they have their limits being a semi-auto, military style rifle.
This isn't a bolt gun, so save the 20 power scopes for your 300 winfag.

The S&B is overpriced in my opinion, and a 4 power scope will likely leave you wanting for more at the 500 yard line.

Oh, and one more thing: With the exception of the Shooting Edge, it is likely you have far more experience here on the board with these rifles than any of the reputable gunsmiths - not to sound like a ####, but you did well to post the question here rather than have Uncle Jed mash together something that may or may not work.

I agree the Nightforce is good. However I personally think the Zeiss Conquest is a better value and also a very good scope.

I don't have a problem with the 20x power, especially for a target model. Since this helps with range target shooting and varmint shooting. Which was what I actually bought mine for (but again I have the target model).

My PE-90 is accurate enough to warrant the 20x power. That being said where Beltfed and I agree is that it's a semi auto military rifle not a precision bolt action. Because of this I wouldn't put a high magnification NF scope on it. I couldn't justify the cost difference, and I don't feel that the rifle needs that level of scope. It's overkill and I would save that level of scope for a precision rifle. That being said if cost isn't a factor then go for it.

My ideal range for a scope on the rifle shown above would be 4-14x if you're using it for multi purposes and not just dedicated target/varmint. It's a good all around range.

Beltfed, would you go with a NF 3.5-15 x 50 NXS or the NF 1-4 x 24 NXS
/2.5-10 x 24 NXS?

Thanks again.
