Process for Deregistering an antique handgun?

Can anyone instruct me on the process of deregistering an antique handgun that is at the present time registered?

Do I deal with the CFC or directly with the RCMP? Is there an official form to fill out, a specific # and/or person to deal with?

I have used the search function, and read the sticky s and can't find the answer. Feel free to PM me the info. if I am possibly "digging in someone's sandbox"

If it's a make/model where every one made was an antique, I would think they could do it over the phone at the CFC. If it's one of those where under serial number ###XX is antique, and above is restricted/prohibited, you'd probably have to talk to a tech in Ottawa. Never done it before myself, just my 2 cents in the form of a best guess.

You are Dealing with the RCMP if you Deal with CFC.

Just phone them Request a Deregistration Form they can most likely Fax it to you.
Fill it out send it in then wait 3 months.

Then PM me when its Deregistered so i can have Dibs on Buying it

If i knew what the Antique Revolver was i could tell you how easy or Hard its Gona be.

If its Obvious pics wont be Nessasary BUT if its some Belgian gun then there gona need pics of Proof marks Ect.
If its a S&W theres Cut off Ser #s ect more B.S to know about.
Or SAA Colts same thing Ser # cut offs. DA Colts ser # cut offs Ect Ect

Dingus, it is a Webley R.I.C. 476 caliber, marked P. Webley and Son. It is in pretty nice condition, I haven't looked at the bore yet, how do I get the cylinder out to look at the bore?

Theres a Knob under the Barrel looks like a Little football some are diffrent.
It turns to the left or right to Unlock it, till it can be then Pulled forward,
then swung to the side and the Center shaft can then be pulled out.
It might be Tight if it aint been out in a Coons age tho so oil it up good frist.

Be pateint with it.
Better to just #### the hammer back and shine a lite thru the fireing pin hole as you look down the Barrel,than to force something and Scratch or break it.

Oh! make sure its Unloaded frist

Yes it is stiff, I will apply some Kroil. The butt on this gun has a few dings, I can make out _ M P 184. Any idea what that means?

You sure its 476 cal? Does it say on its left hand side above the Webley logo New Model 476

Wheres the MP stamped?

Dingus, yes it says 476. The _ MP 184 Is stamped on the butt cap on the grip. I will try and post some photos tomorrow.

I am not much of a photographer. I got the cylinder axle out and the cylinder, bore seems excellent!

I just had a bit of a argument with a woman at the CFC. According to her this is a restricted weapon and cannot be deregistered. It is stamped P Webely and Son , As I understand things anything stamped with this is 1898 or older. She claims it goes to 1917. Mostly what I got from her was a confused silence. She seemed miffed that I wanted to deregister it. She said all the firearms tecks were gone for the weekend.

Looks just like one i had.
Should be No troble Deregistering that gun at all.
Just get the Request in for a Deregistration form.
Send it in filled out include a few Pictures wont hurt.

Sounds like the same female I talked to... bad attitude
make sure you talk to the tech , he was very helpful , and I did it all by e-mail with him after the conversation.

If I remember correctly the hollow based mini ball stamping confirms the pre-1898 date. The call center operators have no clue - a tech should be able to clear it up for you.

Seriously tho it should not be that hard to Do.
Did you Request the Forms from that Woman at least?

They sold them guns till 1917 but they werent still makeing them then.

Maybe she was new, it is the only time I have had bad service from the CFC.

You should have got her ID and reported her behavior. A person like that is abusing her position and needs to find a new job.

Well thanks to a very helpful CGN member who is also a verifier, I received my deregistration letter last Friday.

How much does the value of a handgun increase when it is deregistered?
