To start I will give you the specifics of this rifle. It started with ordering a Stiller TAC30 action from Ian Robertson. Great guy to deal with. The action was ordered with a Timney trigger (cerami coated), a .300" recoil lug, and a 20 MOA rail. It came in fantastic time and is everything I expected.
The barrel was ordered from Adams Lake Barrels (Obtunded) and it also came in great time. I ordered a #5 Krieger with a 1-8" twist and 10 flutes. It was made to be finished at 25".
The stock is a M40A1 EDGE from McMillan, (ordered through 24hourcampfire, great service) with the gel textured grip and painted black. This stock is extremely stiff and light. I love it.
I was going to use VBull bottom metal, but i got sidetracked at P&D and bought a HS set instead. I don't regret it, but I will use the VBull on the next one (Sorry Ed:redface:)
Henry Remple did the metal work and another fantastic job that was. The guy is fun to deal with and his work is well above par.
TangoKilo did all the minor inletting and bedding, and I can't thank him enough. I love Marine-tex.
Here are some photos.

Now the break in.
I only did a twelve round breakin,

The one with the star above it was the shot after I boresighted.
The gun was cleaned, then the three shot group to the right was fired, cleaning after every shot. It measures .331".
The center group was three without cleaning and measures .319".
The rifle was then cleaned and the scope was adjusted, the first two shots are the bottom ones so numbered. The final three are in .245". All five are in .671".
The components are not prepped in any way, and was as follows:
123gr Scenars, Lapua Brass, Fed 205 primers, RL15.
This was tossed together for a breakin load. I am looking forward to load development:D

Nice stick.

I was looking into a 6.5x47 as well but had a hard time finding a surgeon action and a Mcmillan A5.

How much was the Tac30 action and what was the wait like.

Great Looking Rifle!

I also just completed the same rifle, I used a Tac30 from Ian Robertson, A Galliard BBL, and A5 stock. It is great to shoot, I have about 200 rounds thru it, and am taking it up to a Sierra ISU shoot tommorow at Camp Borden.

I would love to hear more on yours as you get shooting it.

Great rig and very nice starting preformance.

Consider increasing your load .2grs steps and watch how the groups rotate. Right now there is alot of vertical dispersion (assuming that your form is good).

As pressure increases, the groups will start to 'clock' and eventually the spread will be more horizontal then vertical. Beyond this point the size of the groups will start to grow significantly and pressures signs will start.

Use the second highest load with the least vertical and best horizontal. Test at least 200yds away. Once you have this load, enjoy picking off very small objects a very long ways away.

Try using CCI 450 primers. I tested the same load (37.4 grains of RE15) in my rifle using CCI 450's, BR4's and Fed 205M's. I shot multiple 4 shot groups at 100 meters. By far the best groups were shot with the 450's - (down in the .2's at 100 meters). This also occurred when shooting H4350 powder.

I would just switch primers and reshoot your load. If your rifle is like mine you will be amazed by the results.

BTW, others have found the same thing and after I read their results I tried the primer test.

Also, I tested both 123 Scenar and 123 Sierra Matchkings. I found in my rifle Re15 likes the SMK's the best and the results were noticeable. H4350 seemed to like the Scenars better but I ran out of bullets before the final tests and I have lots of RE15 for the SMK's so I quit.

Try SMK's with a seating depth of 2.750" OAL.

I suggest calling Ian at Robertson Composites, and he'll give you a low down on price and such. It is WAYYYYYY cheaper than a Surgeon, and equally as good for the price difference. I believe I ordered November 28ish and received it beginning of March. It beat the barrel and stock here and they were quick too. I highly recommend the TAC30.
For the stock I used 24hourcampfire. Rick and Terra did a great job of keeping me in the loop and I paid $500 to my door for an EDGE M40A1.
And for a barrel talk to Obtunded (Ian). He`s the man.

6.5 X 47 Lapua

My rifle is made of practically the same componants with a few slight differences.
Again, the base is a Stiller TAC30 action and Timney trigger (cerami coated), from Ian Robertson. A .300" recoil lug, and a 20 MOA rail were ordered as well. This is an incredibly nice action. I was pondering the SURGEON, and there is no doubt that the SURGEON is the SH**T!! But for the price difference I am Very happy with the TAC30.

A #17 Krieger with a 1-8" twist and 6 flutes was ordered from Adams Lake Barrels (Obtunded) and was finished at 25".
The stock is an A5 in Tri-Colour Desert camo from McMillan. I have been shooting this stock for 5 or 6 years and love its versitility and durability.

For bottom metal I am running a Williams Firearms one peice assembly. I am very happy with the quality and service from matt williams is excellent.

Henry Remple did an outstanding job on the metal work.

I did all the minor inletting and bedded the rifle in Marine-tex.

And this is how she shoots. Same load as Rem338Win:
123Gr Scenar, Lapua Brass, Fed 205 and 37Gr of Rl-15

The first target is the inital breakin, and a couple 3 shot groups.

The second target is 3 x 5 shot groups

Is it true that the 6.5X47 use a small rifle primer?

X2.

I am pondering a light rifle build in this caliber to start my kids on. The brass has been reasonable to get a hold of, and the longevity of Lapua brass helps. It is not a hungry cartridge, so that makes up for the $1 a piece brass. The recoil is less than most .243 WCF I have shot. Love the thing.......

Doesn't have a custom action like the other two but I've been shooting this one for a year now and have 900 rounds through it. Sako AII action, Gaillard barrel at 26 inches, and a McMillan A5. The 6.5x47 seems to be a great caliber.
