New shotguns, MAG-FED and SHORTIES - NEW PICS

I like the looks of these guns, methinks i might just buy one... I have a few questions though:

- Is there any reason the mag fed guns were made 2 3/4" only?
- What would be involved in converting a mag fed to take 3"
- Are there any plans to produce a 3" mag fed gun?
- Has anyone had any problem durability wise with the plastic heat shield?
- Does anyone know if putting a folding stock on the 15" gun would put it under 26"?

Thanks!

I believe that they were made 2 3/4" only was to ensure reliable feeding from the mag. Chambering for 3" means a longer mag and the possibility of shorter shells (which is what most people use, most of the time) getting hung up

The 12.5" Grizzley is 3" I believe (I might be wrong?) and the barrel will swap right onto a mag fed gun.
I have a 15" mag fed and it appears to me that the magazine may be long enough for 3" shells ( I'd check but I don't have any right now). So with a bit of part swapping you could come up with what your after, I've handled a 12.5 pump gun, its well worth the money IMO as is the mag fed.

3" shells aren't really going to add any performance to a SG with this short of a barrel. Shooting steel ammo isn't really what these are about and the increased powder load is mostly being consumed after it's left the barrel.
Cheers,
Grant

According to CanAm, the barrel on the Grizzly-Mag is chambered in 3", even though it says 2 3/4". So you don't need to swap the barrel if you want to use 3" shells.

The 3" shells will fit in the mag, however they do not cycle reliably at all. I spent an hour or so the other day cycling 3" shells to see if it would work. Although quite a few of the rounds ended up in the chamber, a lot of them got hung up. Maybe there's a modification you could make to get it to work better, but how is beyond me.

Right now, 2-3 weeks until we catch up.

Hmmmm, I ordered June 24th and nothing yet....

I will send a msg through your website with the order number, so you can check when you have time....

.... does anyone know how to check your order status on the website? That's what I am instructed to do, but I don't know how...

If these shotguns are shipping in 2-3 weeks, and I've been waiting over a month, I just want to confirm so I know it hasn't gotten lost enroute or something!

My 12.5" with ghost-rings arrived within 2 weeks in July. A query to their email address about using 3" shells was answered within 2 days. I'd say June 24th order still unfilled is a sign of some problem...and I would start by emailing.

By the way yes..3" shells are a go.

Try logging in and check your order history? I don't think they had this feature when I bought mine, but my guess is you log in and it should be pretty easy to check.

Otherwise just give them a call.

Anyone replaced the stock on ether of the 12.5" models?

of course.

standard Remington 870 stocks/forends work perfectly fine, with one tiny problem:
the metal forend tube of the Grizzly (that the synthetic/wood forend slides onto) is slightly oversized. maybe a couple thousandths of an inch.

so if youre putting a wood Remington forend on it, take a broomhandle or dowel wrapped with some fine sandpaper and sand the inside a little bit until it slides on the forend tube. if you dont, and force it on, it think the C-shaped forend will split right down the middle because the grain runs that way. dont force it.

Is the order status on CanadaAmmo's website accurate? Mine says processed... what does that mean?

Im too excited! :)

Do they sell large packs of slugs, like the large (100 - 150rnd) boxes of birdshot?

The new shipment is far superior to the last in workmanship, and quality finish.
My new 15.5" racks way smoother than my old 12.5" Grizz even after I wore it in. Now is the time to jump on the wagon!
It looks great with the PG, and I have a grip front stock to put on yet.

Definitely an interesting way to change the subject of just about any conversation!
