Good day fellow hunting buddies :)

I have a dilemma and I am hoping you can all give me your advice and input.

It appears that I have a tresspasser on my property.

I have put up a metal gate "with a big NO TRESSPASSING" sign, then they would drive around it into the woods to get into my land with their ATV's.

I have since piled logs and tree stumps around my gate to prevent this from happening again. But to my suprise this indivdual has taken the time to move some of this to get in there with their ATV again. "this is perhaps the 4th-5th time" I am fairly certain that this person comes onto my land to drive his ATV to my fishing hole to fish. Leaving beer cans, empty bait containers etc. littered on my property "asshats even had a couple little fires near my fishing hole"

So I am putting my foot down and I want to know your advice on Infared trial cameras. I am thinking on getting one of these so when the jack ass comes on my land it will take his/her picture and they wont notice as they dont give off a flash.

Canadian Tire has this one for $299, it is a Moultrie,http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/p...older_id=1408474396672324&bmUID=1218918712750

Are they any good? I know NOTHING when it comes to trial cams. How far away can they detect movement? or how quick are they able to get off a second, third or fourth shot?

I am going to likely go out there and set up camp maybe tomorrow in hopes of catching the bastard and getting his license plate# and going to the police. Enough is enough.

All "legal" advice is surely welcome! :)

Thanks in advance!

i would go with something better. a Bushnell would be my choice. check them out at bushnell.com. also, i would notify your local conservation officer and police dept. is there a place where said jackass has to unload his atv? put a trail cam there as well as one by the fishing hole. that way, you can get his licence plates as well as proof of him fishing in your spot.

this is the camera i would go with:

If there is cellphone coverage @ your land, you could buy a trailcam called CELLULAREYE. The website www.pixcontroller.com has these for sale. Here is the blurb from the site.

******************************************************
Introducing the Worlds First cellular trail camera, the new CELLULAREYE™ brought to you by PixController, Inc. This new trail camera system will revolutionize the way you scout your next trophy deer, research wildlife, or protect your property with the best "mobile" security camera on the market today!

With our advanced and integrated PIR motion detector the CELLULAREYE™ will capture a full color digital photo (up to 1.3 mega pixels with the new Treo 700p) and email it to your PC or cell phone within one minute after motion is detected. You will know instantly when that trophy deer or trespasser passes in front of your camera.

Note: Our CellularEye™ will send the photo as an attachment to the email so you will instantly know what triggered the camera unlike other cellular systems which email you a text message only notifying you to log into an internet web site to view your photo.

Our true wireless system will sent your photos from anywhere to anywhere! You have the ability to setup multiple email address to send your photos, and include a text message with your photo such as a GPS position and location information. Along with your email you will receive information on the battery level on the cell phone, and the amount of free photo memory.

The cell phone is also completely removable for every day use! Not only will your photos be emailed to you, but they will also be stored on the cell phone as a back up. Simply add larger photo memory card to store thousands of photos! Cell phone sold separately.

I hate trespassers too. I would suggest trying to talk to them first, but be careful. If that doesn't work get the law involved.

When I was checking out trailcams when I was at Cabela's,Winnipeg last night. They had a wildview 3.0 MP IR on for $129.99.works on 4c cell batteries compared to 6C or D cell batteries alot of other cams use.Check out the website www.chasingame.com/camerareviews.htm I think it is called, for more camera reviews. And nail the B@st@rds.

If the land and the pond belongs to you, it is trespassing and mischief (theft if he catches fish and takes them).

Does he take the same route to the fishing pond every time?

I think you know what Im getting at.

Since they blatantly ignore your signs, and take down the barriers,I would not bother trying to talk to them.I would lay charges and have them prosecuted.

If a trespasser is injured on your property in Ontario, the landowner is responsible. Even if he's trespassing.

One of my all time favorite reactions by a landowner was to take his front end loader, and build a snow barrier about four feet high around a vehicle that was parked on his posted land.He did not in any way damage the vehicle,he simply moved some snow around on his property.Since there is no snow on the ground at this time,it could be a good time to dig some drainage ditches. It is perfectly legal for a landowner to do so_Of course you would put up warning signs.

I'd call the police and tell them whats going on. ask them what proof/evidence they need to press charges. I would also ask them what you can legaly do if you find them there or to keep them out.

Like this? :D

That is a little excessive, but it certainly would be effective.Of course you would need to erect a fence around a ditch that deep complete with warning signs.:D

Boards with nails in them :)

x2

As a landowner I have every right to store my nails and boards how and where ever I want on my property.

I was actual trapping nuisance beaver on a persons property once where he was having trouble with people dumping their trash and trespassing to hunt. He warned me not to go past a certain culvert because he had a little accident with a box of roofing nails, no problem I said. A few days later a local stops me as I was pulling out asking if I had put nails on the road, apparently he had gotten 3 flats. I said no, but I said give me your name and I'll ask the owner and OPP, I said I asume you have permission to be on this property and past the 2 No Trespassing signs. They said nothing and drove away.

That is a very good camera.

Right now you can order it from Cabela's USA and have it delivered for about 50 bucks cheaper than the CT "sale" price.

I like the revenge tactics you guys are bringing up. The trespassers deserve what they get.

How hard is it to approach the land owner and ask permission?
Not only that but if you are going to frequent the area at least clean your mess up.

Do what you gotta do man, they have it coming to them.
