It appears from pics in the Monster Thread #1 that there exists an issue or "factory" bipod for the VZ-58/CZ-858.

There are also some pics where people have adapted Harris bipods to the rifle.

I don't recall seeing the issue bipod that clips on the bayonet mount mentioned as an available spare part. Are they so common that nobody bothers to talk about them, or are they one of those "keep looking" items.

Seems to me a bipod would be useful at the range, if nothing else.

yes, it exist albeit rarer than hens teeth ..... i once owned it but couldnt stand the pressure so i sold it . i feel so much better now , thank you .:D

I wonder if a person could take a stock bayonet, amputate the pointy bits and leave the "mount".

Then mount something like an ATI Universal (looks very similar to the factory unit) to the stump. Seems to be no shortage of bayonets around.

(asbestos underwear is on).

i am glad and now you can feel sorry for the poor sobs wanting to buy on EE. :D maybe even get a few PMs ....BTW , didnt you say you were gonna make a few copies (this is no joke) ?

There is a guy down here I let borrow one to reverse engineer he is working on them but who knows when it will happen

I had exactly the same thought myself! Just have not got around to doing anything about it.

vz58 bipod has an interesting lock to the bayo lug, it uses the positioning of the legs , when the legs are in the down or folded toward the rear , it locks in place and when it is folded forward, it then can slide off .

Sounds like typical high-class BRNO/CZ weapon engineering.
Now I definitely want a real one.
In the meantime, I'll add a buggered-up bayonet to my want list and use it to build a non-authentic bipod for the range. Also considering some kind of 'pod mounted to the lower handguard (it would have to be reinforced, I think) for the range. Would look pretty weird, though.

you will still end up with a fugly and overweight bubba bipod.

save your money and offer ridiculus amount of money and some owner will break and sell it to you.:D

the problem with using the bayo is you cant take any material off the front that is where the spring sits so it will hang down low you'd be much better off putting a sling swivel on bottom of handguard and using a harris

LOL. Right you are. It will be one fugly bubba for sure. The more I think about it, the more I think a separate rest will do for the range, and as you say, someday I'll be able to offer someone a ridiculous amount of money to temporarily go out of their right mind.

I've got enough -58 project on my hands with the rear peep sight mount and some kind of scope rail.

If my experience with a Norinco 87-S is anything to go by, there will be a very considerable difference in the point of impact when using a muzzle mounted bipod verses shooting with out it.

Back when I could still take my 87-S to the range the POI would change something like five inches when fired off the bipod - and that was without leaning into it. Put some pressure on the gun and the POI would move more.

IMO barrel/muzzle mounted bi-pods are pretty much useless from an accuracy standpoint.

There maybe one last military bipod available , (brought back from czech army) at Silverdale - call Seth at Lanz Shooting Supplies

I bought a bipod at silverdale just yesterday, there were two others in the store, one mounted onto a gun for sale (also had a muzzle brake and folding stock) and one other that was damaged and needed to be repaired. $120 for the bipod
