Russian SKS45 long thread.

Yes, I am totally serious. I was told that I could be put on a waiting list if I wanted to order one or x number but that they weren'T expecting delivery until late Dec 2008 or early Jan 2009.

Got to agree with an earlier post though, lots of hype for a cheapy rifle.

you need to clarify which shipment, you are talking about the second shipment and thats is expected to arrive early next year.

I ordered mine the day they were announced and I won't cancel my order, that being said, I just bought an M59 so the pressure to own another SKS is certainly off... for now.

Its no rumor folks, I just got off the phone today and they will be sending 200 rounds (not sure what kind) of 7.62x39 with each rifle once they arrive. No mutch but hey its still free.

Are you BS'ing too, or can you substantiate?

If it's true, did they say 200 rounds of 7.62x39mm per order, or per rifle ordered?

I ordered 4 SKS's, so that would be 800 rounds if it were per rifle.

I just can't see them doing that when the delay is no fault of theirs.

It isn't like they are going to be stuck with a bunch of rifles when they finally arrive.

That is a smart attitude maplesugar.

I have imported some Russian knives via the US and I am sure that the red tape for evil semiautos must be a million times worse. It took a long time then and that was before all this stuff with Georgia made Russia even more of a hassel.
My theory is the SKS will show up but it will not be overnight. There also may not be as many as they wanted so being on the waiting list is a good idea.

I would also bet money that the Russian side of the deal is throwing in some ammo as a way of saying sorry for the delay. Whenever there is an issue with my knife order my Russian (Vlad ,really) makes it up in some way. I try to pass it on to my customers especially if I promised them something I could not deliver or was late.

My experience with the Russian knives has made me very interested in a Russian SKS as well.

Does anyone know what armoury these SKS are supposed to be from?

The knives I buy(Rosarms) are from a famous armoury in Zatloust so if they were from their I would pretty much have to get one.

Their manufacturing skills and steel is still WAY ahead of the Chinese.
Particularly the steel both it's quality and heat treat but also the fit and finish. Now an SKS is not going to get the same special treatment of a high end knife destined for the North American market but I would lay money on the Russian SKS being significantly better especially if you are planning to put a lot of rounds through it.

Go ahead and cancel you naysayers. That way they can take your name off the list and put my name down for another one. Hehee..:)

Unsub: I have been trying to find a dealer for the Russian knives. In particuar the Arrow series. Are you a dealer, if so please let me know via PM or simply here. They are great looking knives and a (very) furture SKS owner I am interested.

majority will be from TULA bcos IZHEVSK produced much smaller amount .

IZZY has a collector appeal due to its scarcity .

right you are regarding russian craftmenship , TULA was established back in the early 1700s.

Just a thought to this rumor by Rigking, but maybe SIR is considering adding some ammo to the orders because they are now Cabelas, and Cabelas doesn’t like this delay any more than we do.

Have you got any pictures of those knives posted anywhere?

They sound interesting!:)

Personally, I've still got three Chicom SKS's (that I bought from Lever Arms) that I haven't even shot yet.

All I've done is pull them out of those god-awful chui wood stocks, and fit them into the Chinese red fiberglass stocks. They look way better!

The wait for the Russian rifles doesn't phase me at all. It will be interesting to see what I get though, because I can't be standing there while they are hand-picked (like Blair did for me at Lever Arms.)

I'm really hoping for at least one 1950 (or earlier) rifle with the spring-loaded firing pin. I hope they are in extremely good condition also.
