Blaser Tactical 2 feedback

Just picked one up. Waiting for the glass to show and then off to the range. I'll let you know when it is all together and had the first trip to get dirty.

Got lots of experience with the LRS2 .308 and 6mmBR could not be more happier...
I got a Tactical2 .338LM on the way, should get it in 2-3 weeks :D

Hey Arrowhead, I'm also in Montreal... Where do you shoot that thing long range? Been itching to try more than 200yds with mine...

Also, sniper767 told me that the Blaser saddle mount is too weak for the scope I have and that you had trouble with yours and found some fix. Can you elaborate?

Thanks :)

redman. I picked up a LRS2 Tactical 2 in .338 Lapua & I have a Leupold Mk4 8.5 - 25 ERT coming in for it. I got a deal i couldn't resist on it and I think i am going to try a Barrett BORS on it as well. It's killing me not to mount another scope on it and take it to the range but I am going to wait it out and do it right. I have a brand new 8.5 - 25 Mk4 LRT with the illuminated TMR reticle that I purchased for it originally just sitting here and i haven't decided whether to keep it for another rifle later (in which case i would mount it on the Blaser and go shooting in the mean time) or just sell it to fund this expensive rig. I've got to admit, the temptation to take this out is brutal.

LOL, true enough, but with the price of the ammunition i think i'll wait to aim at something properly. I still have my .450 Marlin to help me through the need to make a loud noise. :)

Redman, as far as differences between the LRS2 and the Tactical 2, other than it is available in .338LM and the picatinny rail instead of saddle mount, I'm not sure. Anyone else know the differences?

Don't beleive everything Sniper767 says, is full of sh*t!:p

I shoot at Farnham military range (10min from where I live:D) Also proud to say that I am the record holder at 600m line with my LRS2 6mmBR(24mm group):dancingbanana::sniper:

The QD saddle mount as a problem with the heavier scope (NF, USO) dont bang it too hard because you might loose your zero:( (maybe 1/4" at 100y)If you have the standard saddle mount (with 2 allen screws on the side) you wont have any problem because you can tight them a lot more then the QD

The receiver and screws under the barrel are not the same, there is more space between the screws to help support the .338 barrel

Not sure but I think the action is also bigger:confused:

None of my business but how much did you pay for it?

Here's the deal that I got

Damn, i was just paying attention and noticed the group you shot with the 6mmBR. Pretty impressive. For those who prefer imperial over metric, that is less than an inch group at 660 yds. Actually that is .1431634 MOA to be exact if my math is right.

bart,

Not sure I understand, but if you already picked up the Tactical 2 (which is not an LRS2 offshoot, since the barells are incompatible) and you have the Leupold, why not just mount it? Or is my understanding that you haven't paid for the rifle yet (since you say you have to fund it; you mean ammo?)?

Arrowhead,

Actually, what I managed to do was tighten the screws with the star-patterned slots opposite the levers on the QD mount (which is what I have), and it seems to have done the trick, despite my scope weighing a kilo! That's an impressive group @ 600m... I don't have a caliper, but here's my best group at 100m (dark circle with 'X' is 1" across, big hole = 4 shots, small hole = 1 miss):

You're lucky you get access to that Farnham range - who was your hookup to get you to shoot there??

Sorry, I should have clarified better. Since i decided to try a Barrett BORS on this rifle, it is very specific as to which scope it can be mounted on. The BORS system cannot mount on any Leupold Mk 4 with the illuminated reticle (which I have now) which is why I ordered a new one without. I am debating as to whether to keep the illuminated model and mount on a different rifle (in which case I would mount it and swap scopes later) or keep it brand new and sell to help fund this project.

I get it now... I'd say, depending on your shooting experience, screw the BORS and just learn through experience and a good log book.

PM sent. The action shouldn't be any longer since the LRS2 comes in .300 Win.

The beauty of the Blasers is that it's all the same action - just change the bolt face length for any change in caliber. The shorter the caliber, the longer the bolt face. For .22LR & .17HMR, you need a whole conversion kit, though...
