I've been trying to do a bit of research for my new toy i'll be getting in a couple of days. but so many choices with not alot of money to play with.
my gun has a 1-14 twist and therefore feel a 55gr or lighter bullet is best. no?
my bullet choices are v-max 50gr. barnes varminator 50gr. or speer tnt 50gr and 52gr Hp. I have not heard much about the speer bullets but have heard great things from the hornady and barnes bullets. my powder choice is varget because it uses less powder to reach higher velocities than other powders. more bang for the buck I guess you could say.

what works for you in your slow twist 22-250's?

My friend uses the 55gr sierra fmj's and they seem to shoot really good. I just picked up a box of 55gr. nosler ballistic tips I plan to work up a load for in my 22-250.

I have found that the Nosler 55gr BT are the most accuate bullet in my 223rem xcr LRT at 3400fps sub 1/2" at 100 and loaded some with H335 in my 222rem and shot a 5 shot group at 300y just over 1" i usually use Sierra 69gr & berger 75gr in my 223 rem but they really are not much more acurate than the Noslers or the nosler 69gr Match
and they sure smoke a ground hog leaving the muzzle at 3400fps

Depends - what the heck you shooting them at? If you have a source of Varminators buy them. Work up a good load later - they're not made anymore. The new "improved" version translates to more $$ and is a step backwards - marketing only.

55gr. Nosler BT's work great in my No.1 with Varget, Benchmark and H-380. The 50 gr. work just as well accuracy wise but I prefer the potential performance advantage of the 55's.

I will be shooting mostly gophers. the odd rabbit/coyote.

varmin-a-tor????? they don't make em any more??? $36/250 http://wholesalesports.com/onlinest...egory_id=10520010041809/~pcategory=1052001004

I guess I'll be making a call to wholesale to double check. price seems pretty good too.

unfortunately you're correct. they are discontinued. I wish WSS would update their website. too bad.
