Glock owners... does this happen when you load a full magazine?

My G21 is basically brand new with just over 500 rounds through her. During my BB safety course and todays IPSC match I notice that on the occasion when the slide is locked open and I'm reloading that when I slap a full mag in the slide will close on it's own. Is this common with polymer frames? The only concern I have is that this could eventually wear down the slide where the slide stop is located.

That is a FEATURE of the Glock...

Makes for much faster reloads.

My Grand Power does the same thing, and I prefer it that way.

Good to here that it's normal for some pistols including the Glock and yes I do find it faster with one less step.

My Ruger P345 does that and my Glock 17 does that if you push the full mag in hard enough. I like it, makes for a faster reload imo.

It is nothing to do with normal or not normal. It is physics. (my Baby Eagle did the same, so I asked the same question)
When you hit the bottom of a pistol in the right angle, the slide can move backward related to the frame due to its inertia, which unlocks the slide lock.

Bingo. It's angle.

And as far as I'm concerned, I'm with Storm. It's a FEATURE!

hmmmm, my G17 doesn't do it, and I've tried slamming them pretty hard.

Its not a feature. It happens with most any auto.

Shootin' the same G22 .40 cal since ~ 1995. When I slam a new mag home the right way it does it. I prefer it to do that. Gets the pistol "back into action" quicker. Don't see a down side to it.

Not disagreeing with anyone here. Everybody's thing is different. The first time I saw it happen it happened to me and it fired a round into the ceiling at the range in the process. Granted it was an old BHP and it sure wasn't mine. I've been told that it's unsafe and no pistol should do that. Wasn't told specifics as to why not, just that an instuctor and a smith both told me it shouldn't happen. My 2 pennies.
