PP/PPK Value

I just aquired a stainless steel PPK .380 with very little down the pipe and near minty condition and I'm sure glad I did as these are by far the neatest little double action auto's made short of the horrendous double action pull which dictates single action fire for any controlled discharges. It actually groups quite well for a short barrel using the Winchester 95 grain Silvertip Hollowpoints (3" at 10 yards) but they's ain't cheap. Also saw another post just this week where the member had 3 or more specimens selling at a premium, one in fact just like mine that went for mucho dineros(yeeooww).Think I'll keep mine. Anyone in the gallery know if the PPK action can be slicked up? and moreover the double action pull reduced to a one finger usage?

Let's get the script right.

Just like it's owner! :eek::eek::eek:

It is also good as a marital aid... just call me Bond, James Bond. Now the wife wants me to buy an Aston Martin.

CHUCKLE! CHUCKLE!..............that is a weird looking gun !..................a ballistic transsexual !

In the James Bond movies "007" was the one with the perpetual :dancingbanana:"boner":dancingbanana: .............not his gun.

Ian Flemming would never approve.

for those who don't like the barrel you can always have it threaded and put a fake can on it for more of that james bond look!
anyways i prefer to have them look like this than to have them destroyed!

A few years ago I gave a PPK to an American friend. I mailed it to him in the USA. He registered it in New York State (Albany area). I wrote the feds and told them that the gun had left the county, never to return. They said "Good." and took it off my list.

Now I am wondering that instead of smelting these liitle gems, maybe we can sell them in the USA?

I knew a fella.. An American Customs officer who was on assignment at Pearson for a few years... 'Shot a lot of PPC
He made an effort to buy as many 12.6 handguns to send back to the US where he said he'd easily double or even triple his money depending on the make/model.
'Said it was easy as the CFC was more than happy to see these 12.6 guns leave the dominion.

An offer you can't refuse

If there's a Canadian handgun ban dozens of FFL dealers will be up here on the look out for cheap handguns to buy for cents on the dollar from owners whose only other option is confiscation without compensation to export for resale in the USA at 10 times the purchase value.

I know a couple of US FFL dealers who have said this to me.

I believe original PPK's are not legally exportable to the USA as they don't meet their federal 1968 law concerning small handguns....

You're wrong!

No he's not - you are!!

The reason that the PPK/s came about is because the PPK was too small by GCA '68 standards, resulting in the folks at Walther mating the PPK slide and barrel to the PP frame to get another 3/8" or so of height to make the pistol importable.

Thus endeth the lesson...

I'm old but I still believe what I see with my own eyes

Some pre-exist, but not importable is correct.

I've imported 12-6 Browning .25 ACP automatics into the US several times within the last 4 years and they are smaller than the PPK.

I still have the approved Form 6 documents on file to prove it.

The Billary assault weapon & some other gun prohibitions (the 75 point system) were repealed by the George W. Bush administration.

Obama will probably reinstate the Billary prohibitions & then add some of his own.

We can probably say goodbye to NIA CCWing in the USA too when Obama gets his pen out as US President in January 2009.

Lots of pre-68 PPK's exist in the US. Go check gunbroker.com

If you were to get ahold of a 12-6 ppk (.380 auto) what would it cost you to have a restricted barrel put on it? Any one done this or have a ball park figure? Maybe can sugest somewhere to get this done?

Thanks

Sorry about the double post... but also is it possible to get a 32 and convert it to .380... can it be done? looking at costing more/ more issues?

But have you imported any original Walther PPK's into the US recently or tried to? ;)

Rebarreling goes for between $100 - $150.
Converting a .32 to .380 is a little more expensive as some work has to be done to the bolt face (possibly the extractor arm) if I remember correctly.
