I'm now a pedagogic counsellor in a trades school and my new project is to offer formation about basic firearms repair ! In communist, and anti Quebec to boot! dancingbanana:

Talk about luck! I served 6 years in the CF, I'm a pathologic Gunnutz, hunter, shooter, and collector and so on...

Now my job is to shop for parts and tools to find out how much money is needed to buy tooling and parts to finally put a price on this formation!

The ugly part is that my first reflex was to turn myself to Brownells for the needed speciality tooling. So far no reply about my 11 000$ price quotation...

It was just the first name I got in head when I looked for firearms repair tools, as I was sure that all the Canadian gunsmiths got their tools from them...

Did somebody in Canada sell gunsmith tools? What ca I do???

I know that my CGN family will come with great ideas!

why not include making their own tools in the course. I would hope that you would have a lathe and milling machine available to you. As to the small tools, it is partly a question of how extensive your course intends to be. I also think that part of the reason that Brownell's appears to have ignored you is that it is relatively easy to give prices on items on a list but much more difficult to answer questions about what I think you might want.

Contact the trade school in Maniwaki. They probably have regular suppliers. Apart from some specialized tools, most tools used in gunsmithing are pretty much universal.
 
As far as specialized gunsmithing tools... seems like most gunsmith are also machinist by trade, and they like to make their own jigs/tools

Amny of the items bought from Brownells can be sourced straight from the manufacturers (you might be able to get a "education" discount)

The project is to offer a basic formation of 120-130 hours. So, for that level, no machining or elaborate steel work will be in the program.

There an idea of the program:

Safety handling and legal things...
Disassembly-reassembly of the diferent action types
Cleaning-preventive maintenance
Basic repair (re-crowning, parts replacement...)
Optics mounting and adjustment

As for Brownells, I never asked informations of what I may need, I just sendt them a list of what I need and how many items of each. I asked about the time it may need to get this stuff in Canada.

Why don't you just telephone Brownells and ask them what's up ?Maybe they lost the email

Good luck. There isn't a 1-stop gunsmithing supplies retailer or wholesaler in Canada that I know of.

I have an account at Brownells and the service has been excellent every time i put in an order.

Now I need a teacher for 130 hours... 46.08$ /hour anybody???
