Just checked my trail cam....you draw your own conclusions.

As sheephunter already pointed out take a look at a lynx and you will notice they only have about a 2" long tail and a bobcat has about 6". It is a pic of one of the cougars we don't have in Southern Ontario. I was recently told about a cougar that was shot by a farmer 20min from Kitchener it was wearing a tracking collar and the MNR magically showed up later to collect it. About 8 years ago a farmer friend of mine told me he saw a wolf watching his sheep and wanted to know if he could shoot it I of course said you mean coyote he said no a wolf. I said you can protect your livestock anytime, he wanted to double check so he called the MNR. They told him there were no wolves here and he saw his neighbors dog, that night he shot a 133lb timberwolf and I skinned it the next day after the MNR guy looked at it and said "I think thats a Timber wolf". It too was one that we didn't have in Southern Ontario.
Regards.

Can you post the picture before you cropped it?? That way we can compare it too the other photo that you have with the deer in it.

Yes Folks there are cougars in Ontario, Ive know at least 3 people who have seen them up here and there was quite a bit of talk of them around North Bay.

Im not sure I like these guys being thrown in near the top of the food chain in our neck of the woods...there is enought competition already.

Does anyone else notice that with the deer in the snow it doesn't seem to deep but the picture with the cat it seems the snow it almost to its belly. Im going to guess house cat.

To me it looks like the end of the tail is partially obscured by a snow drift? Anyone else agree? Looking at both pictures, thats what I see..
