like the subject says, has anyone purchased any restricteds from Marstar recently, from outside of Ontario?

I was considering ordering a norc 1911a1 today, but if I have to rely on the Ontario CFO to handle any part of it (Im in Alberta) and their delays are still 3-4 weeks, I'll just wait, and get something else locally, where the transfer takes 2-3 days.

hmm, thats not that bad. I still have to think a little bit more if I want to actually get a norinco, even if it is only for "fun".... but knowing its about a week to get the transfer completed makes it more likely to happen

ps thanks (I really need to drink more coffee this morning, I cant believe I didnt say thanks)

Your CFO approves your purchase.
My last two ON transfers were approved same day, while I waited. One was about 20 minutes, start to finish.

Yeah, too bad they have to deal with the Ontario CFO on transfers. With dealers in BC the transfers go thru very quickly. Last few dealer initiated transfers I've had on restricted were less than 24 hours. Non-restricted is while you wait, usually minutes. I think the situation is getting better in Ontario but still not as good as out west here...........

If you're in AB, the AB CFO does your transfer, not the ON CFO. The CFO of the buyers province does the buyers transfer, not the sellers province. The ON CFO has nothing to do with it.

(That said, the ON CFO is doing two day transfers lately anyway).

Hope that helps.

thanks for the posts, I ended up placing an order this morning, after reading through them all.... now I just have to wait for Canada Post to knock on my door :)

I was told by the guy on the phone at Marstar, that it would be 3 or 4 days for the "ladies upstairs" to process the order and get it put in to the CFO, after that if previous experince holds true, it'll be 2 or 3 more days, and then they can ship it.

This will be my first restricted via mail order though, which was part of the hesitation.

If you call Marstar, they will probably answer your questions, they were pretty helpful this morning for me.
