Why doesnt Remington make detach mags

Why is it that Remington does not make a bolt action rifle in 22-250, .223 or any varmint cartridge with detachable mags ? Tikka and Savage both do and seems alot of people want that ??

This really turned me off Remington and weatherby. Tikka and Sako are sooooooo smoooth. Clink clink out in the field is annoying. It isnt the flavour of the month. Maybe they have hired ex GM executives.

I asked a gunsmith this question and he told me that hunters traditionally do not like detachable magazines because if they are forgotten or fall out then you cannot shoot. I have seen some Remington 700's like mountain rifles and special stainless CDL's with mags but their calibres started at .260 and .270. The 700 SPS with a mag starts at .243. I believe that they are missing their market as it is the varmint hunters who want the detachable mags. They seem to think it is the big game hunters. My 2 cents.
 
I had a factory DM installed in my wife's .308, no reason it shouldn't work for a .22-250, as long as they feed through the mag.
 
The main reason is that U.S. shooters prefer hinged floor plates, can't lose 'em, can't bend the lips on 'em, Cdn. hunters seem to prefer detach mags.
 
Personally, I have absolutely no preference for a detachable magazine on any centerfire rifle. I do own one, and would get have sold it off a long time ago, but it just happens to be one of the most consistently accurate M700's I have ever owned, so I put up with the mag system. Regards, Eagleye.
 
Yes or in the case of varmint hunting like wolves, might need to load a few in a hurray! I personally am the opposite of Eagleye, I would not likely purchase a bolt for any use other than shooting range gun with-out a mag or clip ;)
That said I do have a couple M-77s without :rolleyes:
 
I would like to get something with a detachable mag as my Howa doesn't have one. The hunting I do typically has me visiting multiple fields or areas in a morning via my truck. No, I'm not road hunting, but it would be sure nice to have the option of a mag when I'm in and out of the truck 6-7 times in a day.
 
I'm for detachable magazines. That is the reason I traded off my Rem 700, no detachable mag and the bolt handle would of had to been modified, otherwise you are "two-fingering" it past the scope. Wasn't impressed to say the least. So around 100 bucks to get the bolt modified and another 350 for a detachable mag kit, no thanks! I bought a Tikka T3 Varmint and am super happy with it. Silky smooth action, no two fingering and detachable 5rd mag. Shoots like a dream too. :D
 
If you are a truck (or any other vehicle) hunter detachable mags are important, if you hunt on foot there is no real disadvantage to a hinged floorplate on a rifle.
 
I have a ADL 700, with the internal mag.Everytime I got on the bike this deer season I had to unload. What a pain in the ass. Going to sell it for a Rem pump.

When I hunt coyotes I do not hunt from a truck at all so I would not make such a blanket statement. I don't like unloading my rifle when I finish a stand in 2 feet of snow and loose the odd shell as they fall out of my rifle's hinge plate system (reflexes slow down in -30 weather ;)). My Varmint shells are around $1 each and popping out a mag would be easier to reload, unload and would just plain save me loosing shells.

Get a tikka and you'll have the DM, I am extremely happy with mine. Btw, I have never know a DM to fall out, has anyone seen this happen?
 
I'm another one that votes in favor of the DM. Sure you can lose them, but that's the owner's fault, not the fault of the rifle.
