So I get a bonus this year, and a bonus on my bonus and a raise. I need to treat myself to some shotty upgrades.

I currently have a stock 870 Marine Mag 18.5". Here are my plans:

1. Knoxx Spec Ops stock. I looked at folders and it seems they are all junk. While I will miss the shotened OAL it would offer, at least I can console myself with a crap load of shooting slugs comfortably. Just ordered from TSE.

I will be dropping off my shotty at Tac-Ord in the new year to get

2. Wilson Combat/Trijicon ghost rings

3. Mesa Tactical Sure Shot 6 side carrier

4. Vang Comp's Mag Extension/breechers device.

I believe this pimps out my shotty sufficiently, and now I admit that I too have fallen victim to the desire for tacticool. Merely saying the words makes me feel shame, yet my burning desires can only be satiated with the above mods. Any comments or last minute recommendations?

Also, as the mag extension/breechers grip is black and the marine mag is nickel, does anyone have any suggestions that I could use for making the gun one colour again? Maybe gun kote on top of the nickel finish, or should I just silver krylon the breeching device? Opinions? I just want to make sure the gun is one colour unlike so many cars in Scarborough. :D

You can't go wrong with TacOrd. On a personal note I recently changed from a collapsible stock with a CTR to a Speedfeed pistol grip with the shorter LOP. You may want to consider this option? I believe that TacOrd may have some in stock.

I would gun kote the extension/breacher with stainless (or similar) gun kote instead of painting over the guns nickel. Just my 2 cents.

Sounds like it will be a nice rig. I too have felt tacticool shame, but on the plus side if you dont bubba things on, you can always restore the gun to original later. Then you can sell off the tacticool parts on the EE.

Heres mine:)

Thanks. I dodn't know you could nickel gun kote the breecher extension. Maybe I'll do that. However, the thought of making the MM all balck is growing in my mind. I have a couple of weeks to decide.

Great rig you've got there, but you don't mind having your gun look like a car from Timmins/Scarborough/Moncton/Sudbury/Trois Rivieres/Medecine Hat/Regina/Prince Rupert? Door one colour, hood another colour, body another colour?

If you're going to put a breacher on it and turn it black you may also want to know that he has a few 14 inch remington police barrels on hand.:D Just a thought. (I picked one up yesterday and I LIKE it:dancingbanana:)

How much?

ETA: I'd still get the extension nickle plated. I mean that's the whole point of the Marine Magnum right? To be a little pimpin', otherwise you might as well buy a new express for almost half the price and trick that out.

That's what I was thinking. Once the nickel is painted over it will be a b**ch to bring it back.

It was $300 including re parkerizing. It's steep, but you can't get genuine Remington 14inch barrels any more.

google the electroless nickel plate.you can buy a kit to do it at home.please dont paint the nickel marine that would be a sin in my eyes.or go buy there xcs model marine which is all black.

I believe present day Marine Magnums "are" Express models masquerading as electroless nickel. Note the 18.5" barrels as opposed to the 18 inchers of years ago.

I bought the MM for the corrosion resistance, the extended mag, and the shorter barrel. I would never put in a 14" barrel as I feel the MM handling is perfect as it is.

I have a friend who does nickel plating for a living for the mining industry. Maybe I'll call him for a favour at get the breacher's standoff nickel plated instead.

I'm torn between all black, or pimpin nickel plated. I see the merits of both. If I make it all black, I still have the corrosion benefits of the nickel plating.

That's actually not a bad price for a factory barrel, especially considering that it will look brand new with the park job. Wish I could find a 14" with the factory rifle sights, I much prefer it to the bead version.
