Let's see here.. My dad would of joined the military at 18 in 1972.. He told me it was a semi-auto he got in 1974 and was called either fmc1 or fnc1 he doesn't quite remember. Anyone know if and where I can get one of these?

FNC1

and no... unless you already had one pre 96(?) you can't get one... Unless it's D-Watted

I recvall them being issued in about 1960. I got a new one in the box, with mags in plastic, a bayo and I think a grenade launcher. I had it at home and used it for target shooting on the week end at St. bruno (PQ).

i concure it was and is a good piece of kit...........

Yeah... The kind of rifle you could beat a man to death with if/when you ran outta boolits... I wouldn't want to try hittin' anything with an AR :D

If I recall the CF began to phase out the FN just about the same time I phased out of the CF:D
1985 or so......
So the FN came into CF service in 1955.... Then retired in 1985.
That's just 30 years. :(

FN Rifle

I still kick my ass I didn't keep the new Cnadian 8L I sold to a gentleman in Quebec many years ago. I have enough examples of FN's in my collection now, I guess, maybe.

I can't find the name and address of the gentleman I sent a Deposit on an Israeli Heavy Barrel FAL with bipod many months ago. I lost some of my computer files and a bunch of my messages got wiped out. I checked everything and can't find anything. If anyone knows the gentleman that had a heavy barrel Israeli FAL with bipod could you pass along his name and address. He probably thought I changed my mind.

Thanks

Yea a good peice if you weighed more the 150 pounds! Ha ....how many people did we see get pushed off the burm on the range and look like they lost a fight with old Mike Tyson.......I would say that it was the most abusable rifle I've played with....had a trench fall in on me but was able to beat the rifle against a tree to get to sand out and keep it firing......the only thing I did not like on it was the dial sight....my preference was the British version but everyone has a different taste.......good rifle just the same......good as a step up to get over the 6 foot wall ....C7 just snaps in two :kickInTheNuts:

I was issued my first FN C1 when I was 15 at my 6 week Cadet camp in Valcartier in 68. Brand new in the wrap with all the preservative...I realy felt my country was investing in me!!...had many year of training with it after but never developped much attachement for this rifle (I preferred the FN C2 with a double braw of 8X30rds mags)....

What did they weigh? The guys I knew that were around in the days of the FN never longed for them back. I recall hearing they were excellent rifles, but no one missed doing section attacks with them, due to the C7 being lighter. The only thing I didn't like on my C7 was the Elcan sight. I would rather have iron sights in the rain, snow, mud.

IIRC correctly, they weighed a few ounces under 11 lb loaded with 20 rds. And that was a ton after a long day playing on the Mattawa plain at Pet, especially if you were a teenager who hadnt quite filled out yet. I never envied the guys lugging the C2s.

At 0211 Zeth asked his question, about a rifle he wasn't even sure of the spelling. At 0230 he got an answer, and at 0234 he had had enough time to look the rifle up presumably on the internet, and comment that it was nice. Does that not look staged to you guys?? Or is the time stamp in the chat forum not that accurate?

It was great for its time and purpose. Stuff it with mud and crap - it fired. Freeze it, heat it - it fired. But they were sure showing their age near the end...

And I was one of those guys at 140 lbs soaking wet lugging a C2. Our DS confused being tall with having mass..."You're a tall guy, take the C2 (or Gustav, or G-Pig)"
