What about barrels?

Different rifle I know but my SL8 will shoot 55gr MOA all day long and its 1-7. 45gr bullets however are junk with the 1-7.

LOL Dave do you know how much sense your post made about zero 1-7" will work with any bullet out there and does surprisingly well with 55gr and heavier bullets .

Guys with your 1:7 or 1:9 are driving me nutz, I think you hit it right the first time ATR lets split the difference and do the 1:8 and be done with it. Go with a 22” SS HB profile and we’ll cut to size as needed. KISS concept.

No edge from me. I'd like to see groups from a 1:9 twist barrel shooting the heavier stuff out past 100m, be it a 10" or a 20" barrel.
Based on my experience with the Sig (1:10), longer bullets can perform well inside 300m and then inexplicably sh!t the bed from 400m and on.
If 1:9s are closer to 1:8.5 Im genuinely interested in knowing how they perform.

my thoughts too;)

Make a bunch of 20" barrel blanks (H-Bar profile, preferably chrome lined, if not, stainless) available for those who want to replace shot out barrels. I've had excellent success with 1/9 twist up to and including 69 gr bullets. However with the heavier bullets getting more use, so 1/8 would be a good compromise.
If someone wants a shorter barrel, cut the above down to desired barrel lenght and redrill the gas port and sight assembly mounting cuts. Then you don't have to have an inventory of all these different barrel lengths that people may or may not want.
Even though longer barrels aren't currently the trendy thing to have, I'd like to see a 24" H-Bar offered for long range/precision stuff just like the "Les Baue"r AR-15's. Although I'm probably the only guy in the country who wants one.

I've seen fluted and dimpled AR15 barrels, and IMHO stainless looks great underneath a black railed handguard, it contrasts and looks really nice through the handguards venting. Though Knight Armament has a patent on dimpled barrels, seriously.

Fluted AR barrel.

Dimpling on a black barrel. I should add that the shorty barrels are hard to find here in Canada, I am getting one through a dealer and it should arrive by summer. Which is understandable considering the buying frenzy in the US right now, I'm just happy to finally be able to have a 10.5 inch upper, it can sit beside my 16 inch Daniel Defense upper I have. You have to admit that shorties look really sweet IMHO. It's something that our US neighbors can't have without more permits and taxes, for once we have the upper hand :)

I think it has more character and is a cool way to set your rifle apart from the rest of the herd, in fact the above photo is of Reed Knights personal rifle, the same dude who owns Knight Armament.

I can assure you, we WON"T be doing anything like that. To me quality, precision and accuracy are what it is all about. Weird gimmicks that increase the price and serve no purpose or that cause issues hold no appeal.
I guess being old school I prefer how my rifle shoots over how ubber cool it may be percieved to look. I guess that is why I stick out at the range these days, I wear jeans and a T shirt, I gave up the camo garb and Tac Gak in the early 70s when my tour was over.
