Russian SKS45 long thread.

I am looking forward to cleaning the cosmo off mine. Honestly!

There's nothing more fun than sitting down for a few hours with some Johnny Cash on the system in the Den, taking apart a firearm piece by piece and cleaning it to perfection.

Admiring what I've done, hanging on the wall is almost as good as being at the range for a shoot! I won't be shooting my hand select though.

to clean cosmo:
bottle of paint thinner
medium sized paint brush
metal coffee can or similar item
a few rags.

strip gun
place smaller parts in coffee can along with some thinner
brush vigorously
apply liberal amounts of thinner to cosmo on rest of gun
brush vigorously
wipe dry
apply liberal amounts of break-free CLP

turpentine might be better for stock

there 'ya go...

I don't know why people have so many problems cleaning cosmo... It's not that hard and I'm a pretty picky person when it comes to a clean firearm.

johnnylo: i like the 3 shades of wood you got .

bcos the pinning of the mag looks different , i think these are from BELL (not certain).

Went to the range with my non-refurb one...I know, I know...:D
Absolutely amazing! Whoever was sighting these back in CCCP certainly knew, what he's doing...Right out of the box, no sight adjustment, very first 9 shots with S&B surplus stuff, 100 yards off the elbows!!!!...:

At the risk of repeating myself, my Ellwood Epps sks was NOT covered in cosmoline, but light gun oil. Somebody else said the same thing about his SKS here. Does anybody know what that means?

That is an awesome grouping, Dimon!! Good shooting!

And a sweet rifle.

Why use the chemicals instead of good old hot water to clean cosmo? am I missin something?

man im amazed . congrats on good shooting .

do you realize the last time your rifle was fired was over 50 years ago by some russian dude test firing ??? do ya, do ya ???? :D

do you feel bad now ? :p

I think the Russian dude woud be proud of Dimon's shooting! "Well done, Comrade!"

Heck, next fall I'd invite him over for some bbqued backstraps courtesy of that SKS :D

Nice shooting indeed Dimon!

RE: Cosmoline

Why do people need to use cleaners or dishwashers? Just use a bit of elbow grease, it's not THAT hard..... seriously!
