AR15 = Restricted, Tavor = Non-restricted...WTF?

This may have been beaten to death, but could someone quickly explain this to me?
Is it based soley on appearance - they both can use the LAR Pistol Mags ( 10 rounds) and are both Semi-auto.
 
The reason the Tavor is non-restricted and the ar15 is restricted is because the Tavor is not a AR15 and the AR15 is.

Same goes for the AK and VZ58. Ak is prohib becauses it an AK and the VZ58 is (non)restricted because its not an ak.
 
All the time people spend writing these things about how unfair the restrictions are on internet forums would make one hell of a legal brief.
Get some expert witnesses of our own, overload the powers that be with paperwork, and all interested parties file a claim or protest/appeal via registered mail. I would also imagine that there has got to me some legal reasoning behind the restriction/prohibition of some things that could be challenged with "Well, how does this make us safer" or "what law is this based on" where we could get things thrown out... But people would so much rather argue online about it that get organized it always seem...
End Rant. PS Willing to work with people in BC to do this... ;)
 
The "reason" Canadian gun laws are so messed up is that no "gun lover" (read knowledgeable gun person..) helped the a$$hat$ write it... (Nor would they...) So, they prohibited by "name"... I.E., a corvette is bad, a RX-7 is okay...

Seeing as how the industry doesn't "stand still", new firearms & even old designs now assembled as semi only, are allowed under Kanuckian law...

Ask Windy Wendy and Allan Suck this question...they will immediately try to restrict the Tavor, the VZ, the 97A and more...however it won't happen with a conservative gov't, but it will make them look stupid.
 
I would have thought it's obvious, the Tavor and all of those other firearms weren't in the Gun World Book of Assault Rifles when Kim was screwing gun owners out of their legally purchased rifles. Another thing to remember about politicians, Kim was a "Conservative" along the lines of Peter McKay - we need to insure that wet noodles like this do not (even for a moment) get the idea that they may have a larger role in the CPC, otherwise we'll all get screwed again.
 
Yes, for all the b!@#ching people do on here about the laws not making sense, it really is quite simple. When C-68 was passed, they prohibited everything with a pistol grip, except the AR-15, which got a sporting exemption.

Guns which did not exist obviously could not be listed at the time, and the list has never been updated. Ergo, any models introduced after 1994 are non-restricted.
 
Isnt the reason why AR-15 is restricted is because its only 16" where as the tavor was 18.5"? Minimum for non-restricted is 18.5"
Also note that AR15 has pistol grip where as Tavor did not..Seriously the
new Assault rifle is define as:
*Anything not label for Civilian/ Sport
*Anything seen in movie
*Has a Pistol grip
*Uses a Military assult rifle caliber
*Carrying Handle
*Flash Suppressor

The Original assault rifle/ Sturm Gewehr are:
Selected Fire
Firing a intermidiate caliber
Shorter barrel


I hate how government who wants to ban gun simply they re seen in movie and crimes
Just like the Liberal say they will ban Beretta CX4 if they gain power during last election, simply because Dawson creek incidient used a CX4...In my opinion...ban a pistol caliber rifle aint gonna reduce death as much as banning something like 0.50 BMG? just saying out loud
