So I've got a Norc 1911 (project gun) on order and this will be my first 1911. I can feel the addiction and will probably be looking for something higher end in the near future.

I've looked around a lot and there's a few models I like. The STI Trojan is really nice, but seems to be slightly lower end than the DW Valor or Springfield TRP due to cast frame and internals.

I love the Springfield TRP, but another 1911 addict turned me onto the new Dan Wesson Valor. This looks like a hell of a gun for the price. It's like a semi custom and people are talking very highly of it.

I like the looks of the TRP slightly better, but is SA still worth 2k? The Valor seems to be worth the money they're asking...

Which one would you go with ?

Valor :)

Don't discount STI because of the cast frame - the STI internals are top notch.

Now back on topic - Valor cough Valor ;)

+1, Valor hands down. Its a million times ###ier. I just bought a DW CBOB, so maybe I'm biased, but people on the US forums rave about them.

IMO they are two very different guns. The Valor is like a nice black suit and the Springfield is all badass.

It's like asking which one of these knives you should buy.

Looks like a close one .... I guess I want both :) It's not so much of which to get, but which to get first :)

plus the availability will be a factor.

Rob, your addiction parallels my own, I just ordered my first 1911 as well. Having done some research, Dan Wesson seems to produce a gun that represents the highest value. The general opinion seems to be that the DW is a semi-custom grade pistol for half the price it should cost. Not a single MIM component on it, investment cast frame and forged slide (at least for the Bobcat). Yes, I ordered a Bobcat in 10mm Auto. Always wanted a 10mm and with only second-hand Delta Elites available, this is the next best thing. Plus the Bobcat is a commander length, how ####ing sweet is that?! But I digress, :). The answer to your question is DW.

So you got the 2nd one? I was surprised it took as long as it did to sell, actually. A couple of months ago there were at least 6 people on this board looking for a CBOB in 10mm.

And now its a race to see who can post the first range report :)

Ontario CFO is worthless, but you're on!

thanks for the input guys.. I'm thinking Valor if I can find one or import it.

anybody compare a valor vs a nighthawk or wilson cqb ? I'm thinking the law of diminishing returns starts to apply when you reach 2k+ and they get pretty close to the same quality?

I think I'm the only one to have a Valor in Canada so far but I could be wrong on that. I can tell you first hand that it will exceed your expectations. It really does blow a Springfield TRP out of the water and the TRP is a sweet 1911. It feels excellent and functions excellent. Hard to explain until you've felt one and shot it. I would love to get my hand on a Les Baer though. Those have to be king form all accounts that I've read and heard.

That would seal it for me, as far as I can tell Dannyair has had, or currently owns almost everything worth having in a 1911 (check the pics in his posts), personally, I hate the guy in the best possible way :D .
