One question.

Who the hell carries the DSR-1 in Canada, or who imports them? do you have to order it or do they actually have them stocked?!?

and it the DSR-50 available at (guessing no)

I own a DSR1 in .338Lm and a Timber wolf also in .338Lm. I love shooting them both. I have used both for hunting and have had great success but I would have to go with the DSR as far as quick engagements go in the field. I would never drag either rifle through the grounds of nature for I am not in or will use these rifles in a military type engagement such as sniping people. I can cycle the DSR quicker than my PGW. If you’re shooting long distances, you have the time to set up the shooting adjustments of the DSR anyway especially at a 1000m plus, for that matter at that range you could sing a tune while engaging your live targets! I do like the PGW because it is made in Canada for sure, that’s why I own one (support Canadian technology) but it is not my determining factor for my choice of the DSR over the PGW.

P.S… Both have good points about them, that’s why I own both.

The DSR is user tuned (built in), comfortable and a better buy for the buck based on what you get for the price, accessories available and accuracy. I do not like the front quick disconnect strap pin because of only being held in with a simple resistance pin which will fall out because of the twisting action of the QD while shouldering the rifle. I have a fix for this and have installed a better trigger leaver. I do like the trigger feel, the bolt lock/safety arrangement, 10shot 2 mag capacity, shooter adjustments, quick caliber change option, free float barrel and accessory mounting options.

The PGW is simple, parts are available and has less moving parts. I do not like the short accessory rail giving no options for night vision on the same rail and the barrel clamp to fix this. Cool factor is down on this one.

If you want a .50cal go with the A.M.S.D OM 50 NEMESIS. I have mine on order! Do you? The DSR 50 is heavy in the front end and hits the shoulder harder than the Nemesis. If you want a fun to smash targets apart rifle go with the HS50. Reload for both for sure, much cheaper.

very tough call. but i'd have to go with the PGW. cleaner lines, and it looks more solid. looks more like a field gun, instead of a range gun.

however, my opinion means jack, since i know nothing about either of these guns, not even how much they cost. however, i have taken a liking to that PGW. where and how much?

Flying high the top picture is actually a McMillan Tac-338 not a timberwolf

Out of the two for the amount of money being spent I honestly would go with the timberwolf.

DAMMIT! i google image searched PGW Tmberwolf and that was the one that came up. anyone got a pic of an actualy timberwolf?

ps: i'm now in love with the McMillan Tac-338. :adult:

cool looking rifle. not a fan of the paint job though. gimme that in black or desert tan. :D still looks more like a bench rifle than a field rifle. it still gets my vote between the 2 choices in the poll. of those 2 and the Tac-338, i'd take the Tac-338.

Masic ?? PGW, parts available ??? how do YOU get ahold of them?
I've tried to contact Steve with no luck on numerous occasions.
I had a buddy wanted a timberwolf and after months of trying to contact PGW he gave up. He's got another Sako now and a custom built .338LM.
I Own one of their 50's and never have any luck contacting them.

I'd take the Tac- 338 over the Timberwolf, although a Canadian company PGW's customer service is piss poor as many here have alluded to. McMillan has outstanding customer service, something PGW could take a lesson from and the family are icons in the sniping world. I fired both the T-Wolf and the Tac 338 and personally shot the Mcmillan better. Also shoot the Tac-50 and we know the reputation that rifle has as a work gun.

My guess is, since they have such a big contract with the Canadian Forces...it's nothing compared to regular consumers. If the CF ever decides to not work with PGW, I'm sure then they will try to get us standard users to buy their products and then the customer service will be possibly good.

McMillan has large contracts all over the world (A-5 stocks for the T-Wolf), including rifles and stocks but they still have outstanding customer service. That is no excuse, a customer is still a customer, at least have the courtesy to get back to someone when they call. PGW is not the only game in town and just because the military use their rifles does not mean they are the be all end all.
