ok guys,

can you all give me your preference between semi auto and pump when it comes to a tac shotgun.. by tac i mean 18" barrell, ghost rings, bells, whistles, widgets, thing-a-mee's and all that

could you also tell me why you choose the option you do

I had 5 times more geese and 3 times more ducks shot with auto then with pump...

Reasons:

1. You lose sight when reload pump, while you can mantain it with auto, e.g. if you miss, you can keep following the bird, do correction and shoot again instead of getting bird in sights again.

2. Auto is slightly faster and birds do fly fast too

3. Tendency to reload when there is no shells in the mag. In a rush during the hunt, even if I counted shots, I automatically reloaded empty mag... in auto it stays open and you would have a chance to throw an extra shell in the chamber and put one in the mag.

4. Spring. I had it with new Rem 870 Mag. When holding shotgun upwards, the weight of the pump stock moved pump mech. slightly down (just a little), which rendered bold inoperative (not fully locked). Auto has a stronger spring and bolt is always locked. Despite the myths, I had no issues with auto, but as mentioned, pump failed me a couple time.

Good side of the pump:

Clicking sound makes criminals to poop their pants, but auto does it too (however it doesn't look as cool as with pump).

I feel I can get faster follow up shots with my semi than with my pump. With equal training/practice there is likely no tactical advantage. I feel the best is what you are comfortable with.

Pump for good!

Fact I can quickly switch what rounds I'm firing in as easy as cycling the action and loading what I need if I don't have it in the tube already.

Pretty sure my reason is same as thousands of others.

VERSATILITY OF PUMP.

Pump action all the way.

I can shoot both accurately at extremely close to the same speed. Just pump as fast as you can right when you pull the trigger, then the forward part of the pump brings the gun right back to where you want it aiming.

Plus pump action is way more bada$$, and can hold more rounds (legally).

Pump.

Although I would be slightly tempted to go with a tacticalized Saiga 12 over a pump if they were available here and carried no restrictions.
