I'm looking for something to bridge the gap between my .260 and 300wsm. The .260 is an original 700 Titanium and the 300wsm is a Sako 75 Finnlight. I was thinking of something in 280AI but I'd like to hear what some other ideas might be, calibers/models etc. Maybe something a little out of the ordinary??

.264 plus .308 equals .572, divided by two equals .286....close enough to .284....you need something with a .284 bore.......a 280AI would do everything you can do with your 260 and 95% of what you can do with your 300WSM........there are many good cartridges firing a .284" , or 7mm bullet....

Swede's don't perform. Just look at Mats Sundin.....

LOL! Good one.

Seriously though, what more do you need in between those two calibers? What will a 7mm or 280 do better than a 300 WSM?

Get something completely different to shoot instead... like a lever action in 444 or 45-70. Or maybe a neat little varminter like a 204 Ruger.

I would also of said 280 until I was shooting my buddies Browning in 7mmWSM a couple days ago.

Velocities were only marginally faster than my 280's but were they ever accurate...

They definately didn't feed as nicely as the 280's though.

you want to be a little different?

Try a .270 gibbs, or a 7mm gibbs;), if you want to go a little off the wall. .284 win is a dandy cartridge also, and it's something not everybody else has. I love my .284. Otherwise a plain .270, or .280, or .280ai would be great choices along with 7-08 and 7x57. I own several rifles in .284, and not one of them is a 7mm rem.:p
